Yep, that's right....courtesy of my favorite vegetarian restaurant. It is the one and only vegan cheeze I have found that tastes good AND melts! It's called Follow your Heart (brand) Vegan Gourmet Cheese Alternative. Anyone ever try it? More product info here at their site. (http://www.imearthkind.com/)
Now I just have to find a place that sells it around here, but if not, they sell it on-line.

Thanks for the link, VK. I've heard it's very good. I'll have to look for it next time I'm in Denver. Otherwise, I'll order it on-line - thanks.

Yes, it does. The only other vegan cheese I've heard of that could be good and might melt is Toffuti's. But I cannot find it in stores and since I've already tried Vegan Gourmet's and loved it, that is what I'll buy next!

You will all promptly flip your wigs when you get a hold of Vegan Gourmet. Be sure that you check out their website for cooking info, though, once you get the cheeze. Each variety melts a bit differently depending upon how you're using it (the microwave works best for most), so it's a good idea to check out the cooking instructions on their site. The cheddar is especially good btw.

The same company that makes SoyaKass also makes VeggieKass, a casein and dairy free vegan cheese that melts. (Mmmmm...nachos)

Man, I'm dying to try this Vegan Gourmet stuff. Sadly, it's really not available anywhere in the midwest. Plus I really don't like the idea of having to buy like 20 or 40 dollars worth just to order it online, especially if it turns out to suck...

You have to buy that much of it? They won't let you just get a package or two?

When I last checked the site, the minimum order was 20 dollars plus shipping, which really isn't a whole lot of cheese since the stuff is rediculously expensive. I think until they become more efficientat producing it, I'm gonna have to pass.

It didn't seem that expensive to me. A pound of cheese for $4 isn't too bad. The expensive part is shipping since it has to be sent at least 2nd Day Air (~$20). I'd love to find a good vegan Nacho cheese though.

Oh, it is very tasty! Alas, my local hfs doesn't carry the cheddar, so I always get the mozzarella as well. It actually makes a delicious, unique mac & cheese! One of these days I am going put some on a pizza... I still love my cheeseless pizzas, though! :D

Vegan Gourmet is definately some awesome cheese! It is quite expensive to me, so I only buy it every once in a while. The mozzerella is fantastic melted as a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich :lick:

Thanks for this link - the biggest thing I miss going vegan is the cheese - casein in all my local options - so this was nice resource - thanks.

I don't see anywhere on the site that you have to order 20 dollar worth, do you have to email them to get that info?
and btw, it says they have nacho..??

Well, since I've tried it and I know that it's good, I wouldn't mind ordering $20 worth, or having to pay shipping. It would last a while and would be worth it to me. I talked to my friend that works at the restaurant that uses this http://www.sublimeveg.com/ and she said the cheddar and the nacho were also excellent. I've only had the mozzarella.

Yeah, I didn't see any minimum order size either. I put one $4 nacho cheese in my shopping cart and went all the way through the ordering process to see the shipping costs and it never said my order was too small. However shipping was too expensive for me, so I cancelled the order. I don't know why companies require you to ship via UPS, the most expensive shipping company around.

Hmmmm, maybe something to do with refrigeration? I doubt it could be shipped without thermal protection. Fedex is even more expensive than UPS.

The Vegan Gourmet Cheese really does live up to the hype, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone looking for a great cheese substitute. We're looking at the possibility of doing refrigerated products at VeganEssentials.com in the coming months, and if we do, this will be one of the first things we offer. Even better, shipping will be less (only 2nd Day Air charges which are considerably lower) and there will be no minimum quantity on how many you'd need to order. This probably won't be until around March, but it is the next step we're working on so that we can start carrying some really unique products that you normally can't get too easily!

Hey, if you do, that'd be really cool. Especially if you make your orders in large enough quantities to pass the savings on to customers. (5 bucks for a block of cheese still seems like a lot to me.) Keep us updated!
