I was wondering if anyone has tried any of the Alarm Clocks with built in Sun lamps? I work 3rd shift, sleep during the day, wake up at night, and may have season affective disorder and was wondering if any of these products are any good? I'm thinking about purchasing the Soleil Sunrise Alarm Clock, but it's around $80.

Never heard of it, until you posted.

Although if you don't wake when the sun comes up normally (or ever), I wouldn't think you'd even wake up to it (I actually sleep through the sunrise, can even sleep if a light's shone in my face). And if the light burnt out... Definately need a backup alarm I'd think, just in case.

It's a regular alarm clock with a buzzer or radio, but has the sun lamp thing to help your body prepare for waking up... the light gets brighter as it gets closer to the time you're supposed to wake up and it's supposed to help your body make the seratonin or whatever so you have more energy. I guess.

It sounds like a good thing, but they're all so expensive that I'd feel better about buying it if I knew whether it was any good or not. ; )

Hm....I would get such a lamp and switch it with these "plug in timers".

Must say I don't really believe in it.

Got the same thing, Pick. Get the new "Daylight" light bulbs and replace all the lights in your house. They aren't expensive. They are supposed to be full spectrum lights to offset seasonal depression. Flood your bathroom and your kitchen/dining area with them and you will wake up much easier.

That might work. That's pretty much how I wake up on the weekends, even if it's much earlier than I'd like to wake up (6:30-7:00am). Seems kind of pricey, though. Maybe you could find a more affordable alternative?
