someone just gav eme the Sunfoods Diet Success Book by David wolfe. It's kinda corny in some parts, but it does have a lot of intereting information and some various sectons (such as detoxing) and different kinds of diets.
i thought it was interesting anway. it's an eassy read. i got it on wednesday and i'm pretty much through it. Though, i do read fast. And the book costws $30 so. . .it's pricey. :)

also, Dr Ann Wigmore is quoted in the book a lot. I guess if you get some books by her, it would be a good idea. (she's an MD).

I really have enjoyed Raw:The uncookbook by Juliano. Once I overcame the long ingredient lists and realized that I didn't need every single thing, I managed just fine.
I am pretty lucky living in a big city, I took a couple of raw food 'cooking' classes and got a lot of great recipies from the chefs themselves. Maybe you have something like this where you live?
I also web surf and experiment with the free raw recipies I find online.
Good luck and let us know how its going!
