Is macaroni and ChReese (from pangea) any good? I wanted to order one food item from pangea and found out that my order has to be at least $10, so I'm looking for some new stuff to try...any other good food item ideas from pangea are welcome :)

Thanks!!!

It's okay, but not as good as I'd hoped.
I just placed an order with Pangea. I recommend you try the donuts. Yum.
Oh and the Tings are really good too.

I really liked this...and it's also great because it's so easy to make and you can manipulate it as you please :lick:

I hate ChResse, I would order some cookies or doughnuts as Erin suggested... Scaryvegan loves Mac and ChResse, though.

I don't like it at *all*, but a lot of people seem to like it. If you do get it, don't expect it to taste like the mac & cheese you remember. I agree with the donuts, though. They're really good!

The only ones that I liked were the shells and ChReese. I only eat it on occasion... maybe twice a year. It has a mustard-ish taste to it though, so if you aren't a big fan of mustard, you might not like these.

I tried it just today actually and I HATED it. I added about a teaspoon of earth balance to it and that helped a little bit. In my determination to not let it go to waste (because hey, it cost me $1.99) I will probably cut up some tomatoes and add it to the dish, hoping that will help the mustardy, rotting, weird taste.

I guess my advice to you if you want to try it is only buy ONE box at first and make sure you like it. Because you might, but you might be horrified (like some of us).

The 123 Kidz Chreese is the best tasting one by far. Runner-up is the Shells and Chreese. The other varieties are pretty disgusting. The Kidz Chreese version tries to simulate Kraft Mac & Cheese, which means it's neon orange-ish in color. But it tastes really good. Less mustardy than the shells and chreese.

I'm one of those people who love Mac and chreese. I crave it really bad sometimes. I add lots of earth balance and extra soy milk to it. But if you don't like the taste of nutritional yeast, then you probably won't like chreese either.

The kind I tried before had whole wheat pasta :spew: I prefer semolina pasta, whole wheat pasta tastes too gummy and nasty to me. I usually just make my own mac and ch sauce with nutritional yeast, flour soybean margarine, spices and broth. Mmmm...

I liked it, but I think I added some more margarine than they recommended. And salt. It is garlicy and has some other spices and flavors. Doesn't taste like cheese.

I decided to order some brownie mix and white chocolate chips instead...mmmm....thanks for the warnings, everyone

chreese is the best!!!

but dont follow the recipe they give you

you have to add just enough hot water so that it is a thick sludge
then mix in about 1-2 tablespoons margarine
stir really well
then add it to whatever youre eating it on and add enough soymilk til its a good consistency
make sure you mix it really well until you cant see the soymilk anymore

also, its good this way on pizza... just add the soymilk in the bowl until its a good consistency then throw on the pizza

ps, you can buy it for WAY cheaper at www.chreese.com

It is GROSS!

You can make homemade vegan mac and cheese (ingredients: pasta, soymilk, nutritional yeast, flour) in the time it takes to boil the pasta, so why bother with that nastiness.

the time it takes you boil the water???

dude, you just pull water from the pot that is cooking the pasta

it's so-so. the texture is totally different from the real deal. using the straight up chreese packets to make grilled chreese with tomato however, is the best. we met the guy who owns road's end organics back in october at the boston vegetarian festival and he was insanely nice. he cut my grilled chreese sandwich diagonally for me! yay!

The first time I had this I hated it. I think I bought a different brand though (not Road's End), but I can't recall. There was a distinct aftertaste of vomit. No lie.

I decided to give Road's End Shells and Chreese a try this weekend and I can't seem to stop shoveling this stuff down my gullet. It's really good, and I actually like it made as directed. Margarine just seems superfluous. But I love nutritional yeast, so there ya go. Now I'm on the look out for a homemade version because I need this stuff to be available all of the time and cheaply.

ooooh Road's End Shells and Chreese.

I love love love love love love love love ^45 this stuff. it is very good.

although i was really dissapointed, cause earlier this week i found a box in the back of the closet and i made it only to discover it had bugs.

ew.

so then i bought some more, and was happy again. and continued to live a bug-eating-free existance.

i buy the packets in bulk from chreese.com

they are Super cheap if you order like 30 packets at a time (i usually order around 60 hehe)

im paranoid about bugs/germs/etc, and i put all pasta (and other stuff) in the freezer, so i dont really have room in the freezer for in boxed kind... the packets cant get bugs in them and you can make them with whatever kind of pasta you want, and they are way cheaper

they make gravy now, i bought a few packets, but i havent tried them yet

I kind of like shells and chreese. Actually... I really like it. It's just that I disappointed the first time I had because I wanted CHEESEY shells and cheese and I got nutritional yeasty shells and cheese.

I like it for what it is and what it tries to be. :)

Besides, I would never diss a product from Vermont.

I like the mac and chreese to be pasty and yeasty, so I've been looking for a suitable (read: cheap) recipe to use. If you aren't looking for creamy mac then this is really tasty.

1/3 c nutritional yeast
1 T flour
1/4 t garlic powder
1/8 t yellow mustard powder
1/4 c plain soymilk
1 t margarine
1 c whole wheat elbows
Salt to taste

Cook pasta; drain. Mix all together.

I just took some wheat pasta spirals, added a few slices of Toffutti American style Soy Cheese and some Silk Vanilla Soymilk. This is great too. I think if you were a fan of mac and cow cheese, you will like it made this way as it is very similar.
