Last weekend I went to Sam's with some friends. While I waited on them to make their selections I found a gift package of soaps called French Milled Vegetable Soaps. Based on their package info, they seemed to be vegan so I bought the huge set for $12. They smell really good and Im really happy with them. Just to be on the safe side I e-mailed them and here is their reply:
Thank you for your interest in our product!
All of our products, including our bar soaps, are made here in the USA.
There are no animal products in the soaps. All vegetable based emulsifiers. No detergent grade emulsifiers either. All inclusions are natural: lavender flowers, oat bran, wheat germ, etc.
The only real animal derived ingredient that exists in any product of ours is the hydrolyzed milk protein in our body creme. It is a powder derived from milk and used for its soothing effect on skin. When we developed these products we worked hand-in-hand with the Mountain People network, a distributor of natural food products and watch group comprised of natural food retailers. Every single ingredient has been analyzed and approved by this group or they would not stock it. Hydrolyzed milk protein, as the animal is not sacrificed in the process of procuring it, is considered fine.
Hope that helps!
Im not thrilled on their view of the milk, but Im happy with the soap.
