Move over, South Beach Diet and Atkins. The latest diet may not be hot, but it’s gathering steam. As more people become health conscious, many are turning to the raw or living foods diet that advocates eating mostly fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains, but eating them uncooked. The diet also has become more popular as more celebrities endorse it and gourmet chefs, Charlie Trotter for one, add an epicurean flourish to it.

I've de-lurked just recently and just wanted to say that I find yours (and many others!) posts very enlightening!

I'm a pretty new veggie trying to go high raw. I must say I never thought of cooked food being an addiction but I'm finding out fast! Amazing! I'm taking the advice and not trying to transition too fast. Just when I *think* I coudn't eat another salad, one bite changes all that. So much is in the mind, right? ;)

And here I thought I'd gotten a handle on most of my addictions.

Great quote above--I'm off to read the article. I believe this way of life will continue to grow!

that's very cool. Maybe it will kick that stupid Atkin's out the door. We should start some sore of raw dieting revolution :).

That article made me hungry :hungry:

I thought it seemed to be going mainstream too - but I'm looking for it now and wasn't before so hard for me to tell.

I think articles like that are an excellent way to insight more thought into our diet. Let's call up all the papers and tell 'em what's hot about not cooking!

Thanks for the newsbits, Oatmeal

CindyLouWho, great screen name! I wished I'd thought of it... You'll find there will be a couple days when people let a thread sit, not that they're ignoring you, but just don't get around to posting anything additional for a day or two.

I posted here more often in the warmer months, but since the onset of winter in the north, I've eaten less and less raw foods and more and more cooked, so I feel I don't have a whole lot to contribute at the moment.

Great about the Raw diet catching on. It's the absolute best diet for us as humans and for the planet. The more raw stuff we eat the better. I'm trying to make a very conscious effort to eat raw fruits, even though what I want is bread or pasta due to the "hibernation" effect of cold weather.

I'm gonna look up Sprouting to get my butt out of low gear and try to eat more raw...

Thanks, jw. :)

I'm so new. Just started this last September. I think I'm on information overload! I've come to the conclusion that high raw is what I need to aim for at this time. It's a whole new world!!!!!!!!
