If there are specific items you're looking for (shoes, shampoo, candies, etc.) it might help in making a recommendation.

You don't need the internet.

Whyte ave - "earth's general store"
Near Whyte ave (near the Save on Foods) - Planet Organic
Jasper ave - "The Big Fresh"
Save on Foods - vegan mayos, vegan chocolate

Girl, you gotta start looking around. Just because it's cattle country, doesn't mean you can't find anything vegan here.

IŽll let you know what I find in Andorra this weekend... oh, wait, that probably wouldnŽt help much.

Since the australian dollar is less, any products you buy online by an australian company will be cheaper than that of america. Tht said, there isnt a really large range in australia, but you can still get the basics, and im pretty sure that they ship internationally. One is vegano.com.au

Fortunately, I've been able to find vegan food items at local stores, but I do end up making the rounds every week. It is indeed a challenge but worthwhile.

I have purchased vegan products from a number of online sellers in 3 countries: Wales, Australia and the US. I have trouble finding nice vegan shoes in the US, so I've used Ethical Wares (Ethicalwares.com) in Wales and Vegan Wares in Australia for good dress shoes. The exchange rate in the UK hasn't been favorable for US citizens for some time, but I find the selection worth it. As for Australia, the exchange rate makes things seem like less money, but after paying a king's ransom in shipping it all evens out.

In the US, I find lots of good things at Pangea (Veganstore.com) and VeganEssentials.com (which carries marshmallows). Many of these companies contribute a portion of sales to animal causes, so perhaps that might make you feel better about paying a bit extra.

Save on Foods carrying a lot of vegan food. They're pretty good about it. The one in Old Strathcona and the one downtown are the best for it.

Don't bother with Safeway. Brown rice is exotic there.

The Big Fresh also has a lot of weird grains, tempeh (the only place in Edm that has it always in stock), vegan cheese, tofurky, soy milks, etc. Mostly organic products.

Save on Foods carry a wide range of soy milks. You can't get Silk at Save on most of the time; gotta go to Starveway :p for that. They always carrying 1 brand of vegan mayo. You have to read the ingredients b/c it doesn't usually say on the container. Lots of times, they have "eggless" mayo that is vegan. Also, if you can't find something in Edm, get the brand name of it and request for it to be ordered in by the Downtown or Strath locations. They always try their best.

The Earth's General Store stocks a lot of household cleaning products, hygiene, etc. No food there though. Lots of activism stuff in the back on the table.
