My kitties, Pumpkin and Gorilla, have been eating Iams food for their entire 3 years of life, as it is supposably a high quality food. However, I recently found out that Iams is owned by Proctor and Gamble  , and I avoid P&G products like the plague!

I've been doing a lot of reading and found some interesting info on this pet board about choosing foods. Therefore I am wondering if any cat people out there would like to recommend some good brands? (I will not convert my kitties to veg.)

Thanks!

This page lists quite a few petfriendly companies. Solid Gold Health is a good brand for cats.

Thanks for that info. That site was so appauling I couldn't even finish reading some of it. What else would I have expected from a P&G company  anyway ?

I printed the animal-friendly list and I'm going to take it to this pet boutique near my home that specializes in these foods. :)

Wysong is supposed to be a really good all natural food. The doc I work with swears by it. I've given my cats the sample crunchies and they love it. (they eat other stuff tho.. )

Today I visited a specialty pet store that only carries high quality and organic foods. The guy who worked there recommended 2 brands, Wellness and Royal Canin. I asked him if he knew if these companies tested on animals and he said no, that none of the brands they carry test on animals. However, I have searched and searched and I cannot find any info as to whether these companies do or don't. If Wellness has a website I can't find it, and Royal Canin didn't specify if they conducted animal testing or not. In the meantime, the guy gave me some samples of the products.

Would anyone have the answer?

Royal Canin is an excellent product. My cats like it (they are fussy buggers to) and they have a very large range for all sorts of cats. They have a customer service number here, I could ring it for you if you want, or there might be a local one on your pack. IAMS make a good product too, but I've ceased getting it since I found out more about their company.

Actually I just found a site that lists Royal Canin as a brand who tests on animals. Their parent company is Pedigree/Mars, Inc.
