:help:
For at least the past four or five days, I need to pee CONSTANTLY. It doesn't matter how much liquid I'm taking in, I feel like I gotta pee all the time, and am producing mass amounts of urine. I have no pain or unusual anything, other than the constant need to pee. This has happened before and I've gone to the doctor and all the tests come up negative and they tell me they can't do anything, but here it is again and its making me insane and i wonder if I have a urinary tract infection, but I really don't want to go to the doctor cause they never do anything!! (cause its not a UTI)
ARGH!!
Any suggestions/thoughts/sympathies?
There's an OTC medication called Azo Standard that is very helpful for this.
I've had to deal with a similar ordeal, and that's what I used. It was very effective.
You have my sympathies!

I might have the answer, that is, if the timing is right!
If you are in your late PMS stage or are on your period, that is your body getting rid of the water it has been retaining in preparation for your period.

reminds me of the jingle ... "gotta go gotta go gotta go right now" from some medication for over active bladders commercial. btw, it seems like every other commercial on tv these days is in reference to some sort of medicine.

Thats what I woulda thought... but I took my last BC pill last night, so I don't get my period til Tuesday. (My body isn't even going through hormone withdrawl yet)
I DON'T KNOW WHERE MY BODY IS GETTING ALL THIS LIQUID FROM! its absurd.

I generally pee like a racehorse the week before I get my period. I'm also on the pill and I've found that the PMS symptoms generally start the day after I start taking my third week of pills (I'm on a tri-phasal pill). I don't get cramps or anything during that week, but I eat non-stop for about 4 days and pee like crazy.

If there is no pain, it is not an UTI. The pain is incredible. And also there are not massive amounts of pee, just the feeling of needing to go with there being little able to expel. Could you be pregnant? that's another thing that causes you to pee a lot (even in the early stages).

No way I'm pregnant. lol.
I've not actually had a UTI since I was really little, and all I remember was the excruciating pain involved! Its uncomfortable to need to pee constantly, but it doesn't hurt like I remember a UTI hurting!! I drank about 32 oz of cranberry juice today, it seems to have helped a little bit in that I went an entire hour without feeling like peeing. Best its been in a week. I guess if it never goes away I'll have to see the doc eventually. In the meantime, Cranberry juice is on sale at the supermarket....

I agree with what others have said about it being related to your period. Prior to getting mine, I tend to crave a lot of salty foods and thus retain water. Then when the time to get it nears, I have to go all the time. This is not every month, though. It happens maybe once out of every 3 or 4 periods. I wouldn't be concerned about it if it passes in a few days. Just wait it out. If it's still present next week, call your doctor. FWIW, the fact that it's a lot of urine (as opposed to only a little bit but very often) leads me to believe it's not an overactive bladder. Don't worry. :)

My body is so freakin dependent on my bc pills though, it takes nearly a week for it to withdrawl enough to even GET my period, so at this point, it doesn't know its coming... Tho I do pee more around my period, so I totally know what you're talking about.
Yesterday, i drank NOTHING all day (i know, thats bad too..) and I musta peed 14 gallons of urine over the course of the day. At least 14...
Is it possible your consuming an unusually large quantity of a substance with a diuretic effect? I'm thinking primarily caffine, although I believe theo-bromine also has a diuretic effect, thus tea, coffee and chocolate?
Also worth noting that it's actually easy to get the volume of urine wrong. It tends to get estimates by time, so things that afffect bladder pressure can affect the volume. Plus, just having to go often makes you think it's more. So it's quite possible your just going more often, rather than actually passing significanlty more than normal. No idea what might cause that, in a sudden onset manner though.
It's not a UTI. They burn. A lot.

For a variety of reasons, I don't consume much caffeine. I haven't even had much herbal tea in the past week, and haven't had any chocolate this week. (how tragic!)

it could be that you're fighting off a cold or something. your body may be trying to flush something out of your system. i'd say just go with it for a few more days and if it doesn't change see your doc again..
maybe you can help along the flushing process, drink lots of water and cut back on anything cooked, preserved, artificial, etc. eat tons of fruit
do you always wake up in the morning really needing to go, like BAD? i find if i have to go overnight and don't (sometimes i'll only half wake up and not be aware enough to think about getting up to go pee so i'll go back to sleep and just hold it), when i get up in the morning i have to go so bad it hurts and then the rest of the day it's as if i have to go like every 10 minutes.
maybe you can try making a point of getting up in the middle of the night to go. train yourself to automatically get up and go to the bathroom any time you happen to wake up for any reason.

This is a little off topic, but I´ve noticed that sometimes when I wash my hands before using the toilet, my bladder seems to think that now is a good time to partially relax. My hands feel gross after touching the handholds and handles in public transportation, and I don´t want dirty hands when I´m wiping myself.

Wow, I once did a creatinine-study on myself and had to sample urine for 24 hours, I had only 1 gallon (correct measure has been 3,6 liters).
Salt intake may account for 1-2 liters retained in the body; menstruation cycle may add another 2 liters.
Are you still peeing that much?
A Japanese friend of mine had a myocardial infarction at the age of 37 (unusual because of his age, he´s a non-smoker, ans because he´s Asian). He got bypass surgery and after a couple of days he was referred to our hospital. A colleague as me, if it was natural with Japanese to drink much. I told her, that there´s no difference between Germans and Japanese. Now, he had drunken 10 bottles of water, which is about two gallons. He had been on diuretics while being at the cardiac surgery unit and was totally dried out.

I would suggest drinking more water. Water retention due to dehydration is very common, and then you pee it out when you take even a little sip of water.
For a few months, I used to not have to pee during the day, and I thought my calves looked swollen (all though noone else could see it) Then at night when I got home from work I would have to pee ALL the time. I was peeing about 5 lbs of water weight off overnight.
I went to a Dr. and found out that stress can have an anti-diuretic effect and that once the stress subsides (like when I got home from work and started to relax) all that retained water starts to come out.
Maybe you have been stressed out? Also, just plain nervousness can make you pee.
Have you cut down your salt intake? Or are you eating more potassium?
