Thought I'd do a review of the Aussie McDonalds Veggie Burger...I don't think anyones done one here yet.
I do like that McDoanlds have brought in some vegetarian options (healthy ones) but...overall...McDonalds still suck.
(despite having egg in them) Ive tried the Veggie Burger twice.
The very much on the small side (especially for $4)..with only one slice of tomato and beetroot per burger.
The first burger I got, they refused to make one without mayo, and the slice of tomato I got was the top piece (where the big brown circle is where the stalk was attached).
Last night I had a work meeting there, so I decided to try another one (instead of going hungry).
Didn't get the top bit of tomato, but the (usually nice) chickpea patty was dry and hard, making the whole thing pretty much completely tasteless.
..I think I'll stick with my homemade burgers from now on :S
The mcdonalds veggie burgers in the UK are OK. I don't really go to mcdonalds though. I prefer to eat real food instead, but if it's quick food you're after, then it does deliver something. they sometimes f**k up the order, since I get it w/o mayo, because mayo tastes awful.
Anyhow, you can eat it, and it does taste nice. It doesn't wuite have the taste sensation that one would expect from falafel, or from a green curry, or any of the stuff i usually eat, (including the microwave food) but it's quite nice. Oh, and the fries in the Uk are vegetarian, which is quite nifty.
My final verdict is that it tastes Ok, but to be honest, it doens't compare to some good traditional british food, like a balti and a naan.

I've never tried a McVeggie though they do have them here in NY. I refuse to support McDonalds, and it sounds gross anyway.

yea i wont be stopping in there anytime soon after a few years back i unknowingly ate their beef flavored fries. :spew:
A lot of reviews in this thread:

A balti is a very rich curry which is usually cooked in a cast iron pot. (Or at least it's supposed to be.) It's got a really strong flavour, rather than being exceptionally spicy like a vindaloo, and a balti is best served with naan bread.
And most of the peeps here probably won't support mcdonalds, mainly because they are pretty much the symbol of the meat industry, capitalism and food which even omnis find disgusting, but when you need to fill your stomach, it's good to know that there is an option available at mcdonalds.

chickpea patti with tomato and beatroot? eek... the things aussies will eat. ;)
err, umm, the McVeggie that I had in New York wasn't too bad. I prefer the BKVeggie though, and since it's vegan and the fries are too, I'll stick with Burger King. In fact, I'm having one for lunch. Unhealthy me.

Does this mean a slice of fresh beet? I've never heard of that.
Doesn't sound too bad though.

The BK burger is better in Canada. It's a little thin, but not nearly as salted as the McD one.
Here, they use Yves veggie burgers (which I dont' like anyways) and then add another 1/4 tsp of salt to them (that's what it tastes like). People who love salty food love the veggie burger; people who don't, don't.
I perfer to order a Big Mac w/o meat, extra lettuce, then a McD veggie burger to be honest.
