Ok, I know they are ridiculously overpriced, but for any vegan Carrie Bradshaw types, you should really check out Stella McCartney's shoes. She has a new store in L.A. (and also one in N.Y.), and her shoes are the most beautiful things ever. They even say "suitable for vegetarians" on the soles! Hopefully other designers will catch on when they see how great non-leather shoes can look.
That's awesome! Do I dare ask how much $$?

I have been having to avoid looking up the address because of my shoe problem. I used to buy obscene numbers of shoes every couple of months but now I have cow/leather reservations which helps the problem. However, just knowing that Stella is so nearby is causing all of my money to burn holes in my purse, pocket, bank account. Nine West I can afford, Stella not so much.

OMG! I just went to her website. If any benevolent VB'ers out there are looking for a Christmas gift for me, I'd very much like the shoes that are 2nd from the left in the accessories and detail screen. That and the shirt on the far right of the same screen. It's a good thing I don't live anywhere near a Stella boutique b/c I really can't afford much more than $50 for a pair of shoes...

They vary from about $200 up to about $500 (like I said, ridiculously overpriced). But there is something to be said for a top designer to make animal friendly shoes that compete with the Jimmy Choos and the Manolos, cause there are obviously lots of people who want the designer shoes. And if you are going to be crazy enought to spend that kind of cash on shoes, at least it is going to a woman who is obviously very animal friendly and has stuck with her ethics, even though there was probably a lot of pressure on her to use leather.

Tell me about it. I spent $49 on a pair of killer Nine West boots I found at a TJ Maxx and even after telling Tim to give them to me for my b-day, I still feel guilty. Even that is too much for me.
My wife and I plan to visit MooShoes when we're in New York about a month from now. They have some groooovy shoes, and they're reasonably priced. I expect when I become rich and famous (ha), I'll be buying her Stella shoes.
Her store is on Beverly Blvd., BTW.
Is there a website for her shoes? I'd like to check them out. :)

I must say that even though I can't really afford them, Stella's shoes are not really that expensive, but as I've said before I have a shoe problem. For my senior prom my shoes cost more than my dress did and my shoes were on sale 30% off.

I just bought a pair of brand-new Stella shoes on ebay for less than half what they go for in her store! Yay!!
