Michael are you aware that the java link goes to vegweb chat?

Thanks for asking oneness. I tried a few days ago and it took me to VegWeb.

Ditto with me. I tried to go and not only was it veg web but....no one was there! I was so alone!

Yep. I don't know what's going on with the chat. I was unable to get into the IRC chat and since it was no longer integrated with the boards we were going to see about using the VW chat.

The VB IRC chat is alive and kicking, and going strong as ever!! I think we should stick with it.

Since I hang out there often, I can see if I can prepare something, a document or even webpage with webchat code that makes it possible for people (incl. newbies!!!) to go to our chatroom...

I clicked the link and went to veg web, too. I think I logged on successfully, but couldn't quite figure it out. No one was there.

I was not able to figure out mIRC due to firewall issues. Will there be a chat like there was before?

Probably eventually. The problem was it was an add-on and since we upgraded to beta software they're not releasing any add-ons for it just yet.

I was thinking about making an announcement with instructions on how to use the IRC chat...would that be ok?

Like Oatmeal said, the IRC chat is reborn and doing quite well...:)

Christy

I followed the instructions and installed it. I was not sure how to set it up with my firewall info.

which IRC programme are you using?

kerouac

and may I suggest for those who aren't using MIRC or who don't like it to use: Xircon

I am not at my home PC, but I think mIRC.

kerouac
10-29-03, 02:26 PM
hmm. the firewall shouldn't be a problem...do you have it set up correctly?

*runs to go see how mIRC is set up*

Christy

Correctly? I don't know. Maybe you could help me later when I'm at home? :dunce:

kerouac

There's an IRC chat?! And no one told me!? :whack: I wanna go....

Michael

There are already good instructions for accessing the chat. They should be stuck to the top of this forum.

Michael, I had trouble figuring out how to set it up to use with my firewall (modem, router, etc.). I guess I just don't know where to find the firewall info that mIRC asks for. Kerouac has offered to help me once I get home and online.

Christy

Kerouac, PM or email me when you're ready.

Oatmeal

Did it work christy?

Christy
10-30-03, 11:03 AM
No, I could not find the firewall info (host name, userid and password - I was only able to find port). I tried to connect, but it never worked. I may try xircon.

Oatmeal

Why is the firewall a problem? If you can connect to outside servers on port 6660-6667, a basic IRC session should be possible. You need the firewall config if you want to receive files, etc (i.e. if other clients want to connect to your PC).

Or is it because WorldIRC requires an identd server to run on the client machine (not sure if they do)?

Hmmmm, I'm gonna research more about this tomorrow :)

I have no clue. I went in, entered the user info (email, name, etc.), clicked on Firewall, but didn't enter anything because I could not find it while perusing the firewall program. I'm not too familiar with chat and firewall software. I guess it's not a big deal. I can live without chat.
