This is an offshoot of the blood groups thread, but it seems that the general consensus there is that going on a strict weightloss regime is a bad idea, unless of course, you are morbidly obese.

So hands up all those who don't diet, and believe that the measurement of mass that your body has does not determine how good/bad you are. I think that there needs to be some kind of shoutout, because a lot of people i meet, mainly women, are obsessed with what they eat to the extent that they feel guilty about eating a chocolate bar. And these women are often beautiful women who have no cause for concern. Unfortunately, that's what society brainwashes women into doing. (And the dudes are starting to get it as well now.)

So this is the shoutout for everyone who does not impose any dietary restrictions upon themselves in the interests of weightloss. Stand and be counted!

Booyah! :hamster:

Eating well and dieting are certainly not the same thing... dieting is most often futile and sometimes dangerous.

I have good friends who struggle with eating disorders. Although I don't know what its like myself, and certainly don't want to, I can see how upset they are by what they see in the mirror. They're beautiful girls too.

So let's every body eat well, exercise, and not kick our own a*ses if we don't wear a size 2.

Oh yes. My latest diet has been reces peanut butter cups. Yummy!
Most of the time I try to eat healthy, but defintly not too worried about my weight. I usally try to eat healthy enough so that I don't die during my runs. Thats about it. :) I like junk food on my off days.

I don't diet, but I don't eat junkily. I eat well. I'm losing weight just through eating well and exercising, but dieting is awful... (I've tried it twice, and it sucks). Another non-dieter here...

another thumbs up here!
maybe someday I will join, but so far I've only been not dieting for three weeks, so I don't think that it counts yet

Whoo hoo! Cookie monsters unite! My diet consists of cereal, cake, brownies and cookies. Occasionally these things include minute amounts of carrot or banana. However, they are always insanely delicious, fatty, and gooey.

"not dieting" doesn't automatically mean we should survive on junk food, does it?

ftr, even morbidly obese people shouldn't diet. dieting doesn't work. it has never worked. the "morbidly obese" should eat normal amounts of calories and generally select nutritious whole foods whenever possible, focusing on fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and legumes. they should also get some physical activity every day.

but that's true of everyone. isn't it?

True, Kreeli.

However, with me it's more like anti-dieting. I approach each day with "how much crud can I fit in my tummy?"

i just eat what i like and what i feel my body needs

No, not especially. Der... did I hit a wrong chord?

nope.

i just find it interesting that a thin person can have the "i eat as much crap as i want" philosophy in life and go around not taking any heat for it; while a fat person like me takes time and care looking after her body and the fuel it uses, and i get **** for how i look all the time.

just another little illumination into how the world works.

Actually, this describes me better than what I wrote. I ususally eat about five meals a day. I love this method because I feel like I eat all day. I guess I'm a grazer. I eat when my body is hungry. Most of the time this includes heathly stuff-fruit smoothies, ww pasta, salads, etc. Sometimes junk food. If I feel like eating choclate, I eat it, I don't stress over it.

I just eat whatever I can, whenever I remember to, assuming its vegan. Some days I eat too much. Other days I eat too little.

i'm quite thin

but i still don't eat huge amounts of junk

in fact i eat less junk then my mother who is always on some sort of diet

Woohoo!! I don't diet, either!!

I try to eat healthy, but don't freak out about the fat content of my peanut butter or about how many pieces of tofu jerky I consumed in one day. I do what my body tells me to--sometimes I really crave junk and I eat chips, sometimes I really crave fruit and I eat lots of that.

Granted, I AM a size 2, so I've never felt the need to diet...

I am in the process of losing weight, but I'm sure as heck not dieting. I learned by watching my family that diets don't work. I eat nutritious food and I've started weight training to increase my muscle mass. Feeling guilt about food is a waste of time.

I don't diet. This is it, this is my body, I treat it as well as I can, and eat pudding and ice cream and candy every now and again, cause sometimes, thats how it wants to be treated :)

Diets blow! I spent my life yo-yo dieting (back when I was a size 5) until I ruined my health. Now...I am overweight big time, but I am NOT dieting. I am learning to eat healthy foods, but I don't deprive myself of goodies, either. I've found I don't eat or crave junk food since I'm not "mentally" feeling deprived. I do agree with Kreeli....when I was "thin" I could fast for a week and then binge on junk and no one said a thing. BUT, now that I'm over weight - eating healthy, though - everyone has to give me their opinion of which diet I should be on. (I get a lot of Atkins and Weight Watchers comments) I just say: "No thank you!" Diets don't work!
