View Full Version : New square icon?

I really have no idea what this is or even how to describe it. It's a square with a star and circle inside it? :p

I've noticed that the last 4 threads i've replied in have got this new icon next to their titles on the forum page. What does it mean?

Huh? Attach it to a post so I can see it.

Here you go!

I sure hope this isn't a stupid question. :p

Ah, that means you are subscribed to those threads. I take it you didn't do that on purpose? Robert was having trouble with it the other night. If you don't want to be subscribed to them let me know.

Me too.. Happens with every thread I post in (which would be, well every thread on VB...).

Though I don't get email notifications. Otherwise I would have screamed already :)

yeah.. if you go to the advanced reply, you'll see that "subscribe without email notifications" is the default for some reason.

Dammit.

Oh.

Weird!

I was wondering about that subscribe thing, too. I went to the manage your subscriptions page, and I had a HUGE list. But they all said no email notifications.

Same here... Iīm subscribed unintentionally to lots of threads and I havenīt been getting emails saying so. But what good does it do to be subscribed without email notifications? Just a shortcut to the thread from my user cp?

Just an update, I found something on this but didn't quite understand it so someone else is checking into it for me. If it's not a fix we'll need to wait until the next update to the software comes out - late November. :-/

I'll let you all know when I hear something.

Every day I go and unsubscribe to each one because the little squares annoy me. :D

So is there a way to fix this yet? It's like a little annoying bug that flies around one's head. It doesn't do anything but I wish it wasn't there. :p

Have you "un checked" the little box next to "automatic subcribtion" in your user cp> options ?

Walter

No! I've not done that.

Oh man, that would have been nice to know about a couple weeks ago. :p

Walter

Alright, I looked for it, but I didn't see it.

Guess I'm stuck with unsubscribing every day for now. :p

i'm not sure what 1vegan's talking about either but when you reply to a post, you can just choose 'no subscription' from the drop down box as opposed to the default. unless you're a lazy quick-reply poster... :P

Should hopefully be fixed when the next version of the software comes out. It will probably be toward the end of November or early December.

i'm not sure what 1vegan's talking about either

User CP > options and there is a box

"Use 'Email Notification' by default?
Using this option emails you whenever someone replies to a thread that you have participated in."

If you tick that box you automaticly are subscibed to every thread you post in.

But the thing ain't working like Michael said, cause I can't get it set to yes.

Michael: when there is a update, will vb be off line again? and for how long ?

Michael
11-19-03, 11:36 AM
Yes, probably an hour or two. The upgrade itself may not take too long but I'll want to backup the database and do a few other things.

1vegan, I dont have that box checked yet i still get subscribed(no emails). There is no check box for subscriptions.

Im guessing its not so much a problem with the software as a default setting somewhere, though maybe the software is set up so Michael can't fix it.
