this is a dumb Q but i dont know. i changed my user name a while back, about a year ago. can someone who is not a member do a search under username?? or if they do join and do a search under my old username would any posts come up??? or will they all have changed to my current user name making it impossible for the nosy person to look up posts by that name?? please say the latter.
thx!

Actually, your old name is still there attached to the old posts. It's just inactive (the user name). So, yeah members can search and read all your old posts. Go hurry and delete/edit them if you don't want anyone to see.
ETA: I'm not sure about a non-member doing a search. You could test it by signing out, not logging back in and doing a search under your old name.

Oppss..I think I'm wrong. I just searched for a person who had changed her name and I couldn't find it under the members search. So, I looked her up under her new name and the old posts aren't connected to the new name. It doesn't seem that you can do a search under an old inactive user name by clicking on members and doing a search from there. I'm sure you can still see the posts though if you happen across them. You just can't find them that easily. Hmm....seems like that's how it's working anyhow.

oh thats good to know. thanks ruthie
Yeah, if you changed it by re-registering, the old name is still there. If you had Michael change it, they will all be changed.
And non-members cannot search by name- I think. Log-out to see for sure. Also nonmembers cant read the veggiepatch I'm pretty sure.

What Thalia says is true. I'm not positive about the search thing but like she said, just log out and try it.
Non-members cannot search at all. (just tried it)
