Hello! :hi:
I am wondering if some of you experts can help me find a good food processor. I don't have a problem buying online or if it's in the store, whichever is cheaper works for me.
I am on a budget, so I don't want to spend more than $60. I realize I will be getting what I paid, but I just want something that will get me through for at least a year or two (if not more). I have read a couple of reviews online, and need advice. What types do you all use?
My only other necessity is that I need to be able to add liquid to it without it leaking all over the place! I want to be able to make pesto. I already had a blender that did that, and it got donated to my step-mother, lol.
Thanks!

Cuisinart make the best food processors hands down. you could possibly get a used/refurbished one for that price. They're more of a long term investment. those things don't die.

Thank you! They are a little pricey, but I understand the long-term investment point. Plus, they can do a lot more than simply mix and chop!

Get a Slap Chop! :) They are 20. :P
Or kitchenaide? I don't know how good they are (even though I should as I work in a store that sells everything (house-wise) you can think of...)

I do a lot of vegan cooking. I have many cookbooks and love to cook. Honestly I've found a good blender is all I need. I got a nice one at Target by Oster for under $60 I believe. I can make hummus, smoothies, soups and whatever with it.
Then again, I don't mind doing things by hand. I love to slice, dice, mince and chop things on my own without a processer. It's part of the cooking process and is sort of "me time".

I've had a Kitchen Aid for about a month, so I can't comment on its long term quality but it seems very solid and works great. Reviews were excellent on all sites and ran 99$ or so at Target.
I was looking in the same price range as you when I bought mine but kept seeing terrible reviews on the quality of those machines. For a full size processor, it seems like 100$ is the entry price for quality. I ended up just spending the extra cash because I hate the hassle of taking things back over and over.

I've got a Black & Decker, similar to this one:

It works great and I think (don't quote me) it was around your price range.

check out thrift stores, i found a food processor in the box with all attachments for $15! i have also seen fancy name brands for less than half the normal prices. most stores have outlets that you can check if items work, and replacement blades are easy to order from most brands if you find a dull one.
its also good to try a used one because you don't really know that you will use it that much yet, might suck to spend $100 bucks on something you use once a year...

I've got one of these as well and I love it and I'm also thinking it was around the same price. I got mine at Target.

Black & Decker products have seriously declined in quality in the last 20 years or so. Used to be, the B&D name stood for quality. Now it stands for "good enough" discount store brand...
For food processors, I swear by the Cuisinart brand.

I've been comparing and contrasting Cuisinart and KitchenAid. I think that I am sold on Cuisinart. My brother works for Crate and Barrel, and I can have him buy it for me at a 55% discount. I think that I would be a daily kind of user, several times a week at the minimum, so I'm willing to put some money into the investment.

I ended up purchasing a Black & Decker similar to the picture posted. So far it works great! I wish the blades came with a storage case, but it isn't so bad.
I've already used it about a dozen times and love it! I purchased it at Target because of their 90 day return policy, as well as the fact that it has a 1 year warranty. Seeing as how I use it so often, I'm planning on saving for a Cusinart when this one goes out...sadly, I know it won't last forever.
Thank you all for your help! I appreciate it!

I got my Kitchen Aid 9 cup food processor for Christmas this morning. In a word, it is AWESOME. It is fast and quiet. It comes with a 4 cup mini prep bowl that fits inside it and also has several extra blades. I'm in love. :)
