I love being vegan.. but it's so frustrating! I avoid milk, egg, meat, casein, gelatin, and whey. There are just so many hidden ingredients! I'll eat something, think it's vegan, and then find out it's really not because it has some animal derived product with some name that doesn't even suggest what it came from! ugh! Help please. :furious:

Eat nuts, seeds, fruits, vegetables, and beans.

Stay away from processed foods, if you're eating whole foods there's no way to mess up.

You will get a squared away after a while.
It takes time.

Pay very close attention to what you eat, and maybe buy a cook book or two. The lovely Colleen Patrick Goudreou has "The Joy of Vegan Baking" Its marvelous.

I am a firm believer that learning/knowing how to cook is an indispensable skill for anyone. It gives you freedom from being at the mercy of pre-packaged, processed, store-bought foods and questionable restaurant fare. Cooking doesn't have to be time consuming. I would second the suggestions of moving toward a whole-foods diet. There are plenty of folks on the boards who are more than willing to share recipes with you.

I have to agree. :/ It's annoying to find something great, have it for a month and find it's not vegan, :/
It's hard to remember all the animal product/derived/ D:

I agree it can be tough. Staying away from processed foods and items with a lot of ingredients can make things easier. It can be frustrating scanning a long ingredient list. I prefer to buy items that are clearly labeled as vegan.
