I like the Avalanche... but I prefer the Dodge Ram in the pickup category. When it comes to cars though... this is the baby right here:

I've come to the conclusion that with the exception of my family, I don't think I can live with someone I'm not in love with, and who loves me, because I'm just plain hard to live with.

Every roommate situation I've ever had has been bad. I'm not a bad person, and I try hard to be a considerate roommate, but apparently I'm not doing enough. *sigh*

car companies tend to "rip each other off" i've noticed... OLDER toyota carollas (i think) and nissan sentra's look very similar. ...I've noticed it with a lot of cars. i think it's some sort of conspiracy! :p

Fafa: what? you mean there are industrial spies or some underhandedness in the automotive industry? :D

Hehehe, yeah... they've been ripping off ideas from one another for years it seems.

The most noticeable that comes to mind for me is remember all the 80's models of Buick Regal, Grand Prix, Monte Carlo? With the exception of some very minor things... all are pretty much identical.

gotta agree Ceryna. the roommate situation is usually just bad. we lived with friends before and it ended much the same way, we vowed to never live with friends again, it ruins friendships. you never really know someone til you have to sit beside their nasty smelly feet every night after work.

anyway we thought it'd be different with this roommate, he's my bf's best friend, but aside from that he used to clean for a living and his old apartment before moving in together was always very clean and tidy. suddenly with other people around he turned into a major slob.

the one thing he is definately doing here still is cleaning out his fridge. he has a fridge that he owns, and has no room at the new place so we're hanging on to it here for him. we don't use it, other than to put pop in, but he has a large casserole dish in there with something resembling lasagna that is months old, and a whole watermelon from July. yes, July. it is now oozing liquid into the bottom drawers.

we are not touching it. if it has to sit there like that til we move out of this house and he takes his fridge so be it, we've told him we're not cleaning it and we're sticking by that.
i just hope it doesn't eat my cat while i'm at work.

Okay, my whole drive home, I was craving chips and salsa. The last time I bought groceries, I bought chips and salsa. I carefully scrutinized the chip and salsa ingredients to ensure vegan-ness.

Monday night, I ate some chips and salsa with my lunch, sealed up the bag and put it in the cupboard, and put my salsa jar in the 'fridge.

I come in from work, change into something comfortable, and go into the kitchen for some chips and salsa. The salsa is still sitting in the 'fridge, delightfully unmolested because I'm the only one who eats mild salsa in this family, but my chips are gone!

Indeed, all the chips are gone!

Apparently, my mother must have decided to throw away chips. Including mine. Which were fresh, sealed, and not in her way. I'm sure it was just an accident, but darnit, I really wanted those chips tonight! Nice, crisp corn chips! :lick:

I opened the 'fridge again, and was momentarily struck with an intense cheese craving, as the slices of overly-processed American cheese taunted me from eye-level. I fought the temptation, however, and ate tofu on toast with a cup of tea.

And that brings me to now.

I hate it when stuff like that happens...

And why are omnis so afraid of tofu? It's made from beans, right? Soybeans.

They eat other kinds of beans. Beans are not inherently evil.

And yet, when I put a package of tofu in the 'fridge on Monday, my mom wrinkled her nose and asked if I had to put that stuff in there with her food.

I'd think her shreds of pig flesh (sandwich meat), leftover pig butt swimming in its own fat (pork roast), and other omni foods would be more disturbing to me.

I just ignore them.

And she's bothered by tofu? Beans?

It boggles the mind.

Omnis refer to my food as "fake food". Even though the only difference between what I eat sometimes and their version has bacon/ham/beef in it and mine doesn't.

The tofu's the worst though!

I got a friend to eat some one night though :)

He said the entire thing tasted like crap, except for the white stuff that he loved (overdid the spices). The white stuff was the tofu!

Yeah, I don't get the whole "fake food" thing. My family does that, too.

It's like...is rice fake? Are vegetables fake? Are they made of air? Does the lack of animal flesh somehow render other substances insubstantial?

There was something I ate once...oh what was it...a salad or something like it... Cookies! That's what it was. Cookies. I had cookies that I made.

I was asked if they were "real cookies" or "fake cookies". They didn't believe me when I said that the recipe didn't even call for eggs/dairy to begin with.

And why are omnis so afraid of tofu?

Well, I cannot speak for anyone else. But I'm not afraid of it.. it just tastes terrible... or to quote Eric Cartman, "It tastes like ass". I've tried it numerous times, prepared by a couple of people (even myself) and even a couple of times at a restaurant. I personally just think it tastes terrible. I think that Seitan (sp?) stuff tastes much better.

ceryna

I get that all the time. My family is loathe to try anything I make, because it doesn't contain animal ingredients. Even when I point out something that's just naturally vegan...like a vegetable recipe, they'll turn their noses up at it.

My little sisters will taste things every now and then, my middle sister, in particular, fell in love with the vegan snickerdoodles that Kreeli created, but for the most part, the differences between my food and theirs is so much more of an issue than it should be, and I'm not the one making a fuss.

Yes, if I'm offered something, I'll politely inquire about the ingredients before accepting or refusing, but I always keep it low key and courteous.

I didn't like it when I first tried it, Robert...so maybe it's an acquired taste.

I started out only being able to eat it fried, and now I've gotten to the point that I can eat it baked, broiled, grilled, or in other dishes, but I couldn't eat plain steamed tofu or anything.

That's interesting, Epi. Did you pick it because it's cool looking, or is it in honor of Halloween? Or both?
