I am going to run a poll for the next 2 days. Please vote appropriately. Only one vote per member, please. There is no need to post anything, I just want a majority opinion, and that will determine whether I stay or go. And, please, vote with your heart for what is best for THIS community. Don't vote just cause you don't want to hurt my feelings.

If you do vote for me to stay, remember that in doing so, I WILL continue to post my opinions, even if you don't like it, although I will refrain from posting on veg vs. omni issues unless I start the thread, OK?

I'll leave if the majority prefers, and it will be based on a vote tally to end on Thurs, Oct 23,2003 10:30 AM CT. Remember, those of you that would like to keep in contact, there is always e.mail!

You should stay.
We loved you before, we should love you now. Dig?

Even though I don't agree with the path you've recently choosen I do agree on other things. And even though I don't agree with someone doesn't necessarily mean that I can't learn from them. So, I voted to for you to stay. Just please be respectful to us and not discuss the benefits to you of your current diet unless of course, someone starts a thread on it and feels like debating you. Other than that, I believe diversity in all communities is a good thing.

I say go... The last straw for me was when you called Lothar an idiot when it was you being the idiot.

There are other omni's on the board and last time I checked, the majority of the folks here weren't ready to string them up and send them packing. Why should things be any different for you? Unless you're looking for a reason to leave VB...in which case, you've figured out what most of us haven't been able to--how to break the VB addiction!

Seriously, though...stay, hang out, have a good time.

Actually Marie, she didn't call him an idiot. She claimed he made an idiotic statement.

Why poll? Make up your own mind. And if you do decide to stay, please be aware that for a lot of us this is the only place where we come to be with like-minded people. I'm the only veg*n I know, and I know I'm not the only one here in that situation. And a lot of us get a lot of hassle and crap in the "outside world", especially about the "veg vs. omni" issues, and come here to escape from it, so please don't go round starting lots of veg vs. omni theads. K? And no more telling us about the health benefits of meat-eating, please?

Actually Marie, she didn't call him an idiot. She claimed he made an idiotic statement.

Either way she was very rude about it. The oddest thing about it was that he was making perfect sense while she was going on about her nonsense diet.

I say stay.
Omnivores can make for interesting discussion.

I voted "stay." I like you & I like reading your posts. But if it's opinions you want, I wish you had asked for opinions, rather than saying you were leaving (in your other thread.) I felt a little manipulated by the "I'm leaving...oh, all right, I'll stay" bit.

I voted stay. A community of respectful, differing viewpoints is a thing of beauty.

I posted in that thread on the 13th about running a poll......psychic? Hmmm....

I agree. Saying you're leaving, letting people talk you into staying and then saying you're staying, and then having a poll to let people decide whether or not you should stay seems a bit much.

Do what you want. If you feel unwelcome, leave. If not, stay. I don't like to give my opinion of a person in response to anything the least bit resembling a swan song. It will just encourage others who may want to come up with clever ploys for sympathy and/or complements. (not that you are necessarily doing that)

it does seem as though you're having a bit of a go at us, equipro. how much attention do you actually need?

you know that omnivores are welcome here at VB, so long as they remain respectful of veg' culture. make up your own mind and stop trying to get people to beg you to stay. it's completely unbecoming.

This is exactly why I do not watch soap operas....I am not gonna lie, I never loved you...but just make up your mind already..I feel used...or something...

I agree with Marie about the Lothar matter.

Whether to go or stay should be each individual's choice, unless she/he is banned. From what I've seen, you have very decided opinions, you don't seem to be influenced by the opinions of others, so why the poll?

I agree with Marie and Mouse on the Loather matter too. That comment was a bit much, and I was all for you staying until that comment came up.

I think it's time to take a breath, step back from all this craziness, and focus on participating in the community, IF YOU STILL WANT TO. That's your choice. If 33% of the members don't like it on principle, that's their problem, not yours. If you start behaving offensively, you'll be barred like anyone (vegan or not) would.

Clearly there are enough people here who enjoy your presence (like myself) that you know it's worth sticking around. So, yeah, make up your mind about what YOU want, and let's get crackin'!

I think this poll is ridiculous, and popularity crap really annoys me. If the majority of votes determine that Equipro stays, is she going to pull a Sally Field and exclaim, "They like me, they really like me!"?

*I am normally a mild-natured person, and this is probably the meanest thing I've ever posted. However, all of this is really getting under my skin.

Uh...yeah. "All My VBers" Oh...the drama!!!

I abstained. :D

As ridiculous as this whole thing is, isn't this one of the reasons we keep coming back to these message boards? So much drama! I think it's hilarious.

Anyway, I wish that Equipro had written in her description of this poll that she had gone back to eating meat. I don't read all the forums and only just found out that she had spent pages and pages defending her meat eating in the "health" forum (of all places fer crying out loud) and the blood type diet to boot! So I made an uninformed vote just assuming that she was involved in one of the usual arguments that people get there feelings hurt over in a message board. I voted yes, but I want to change my vote to no, but I don't really care. Has she changed her view on horses, that's what I want to know. If she's still anti-horsie people, then I dig her.

See signature.

My signature reflects my annoyance with meat eaters making the same stupid arguments over and over again trashing veg*nism no matter how many times their arguments are irrefutably discredited. People should respect that this is a community for vegetarians, most of whom probably put up with enough crap IRL that they don't need their lifestyles criticized here.

Furthermore, to post a poll like this is a little tacky. Why does the approval of other members matter so much to you? Come here as long as you enjoy coming here and are respecting the rules of the forum. Why do you need the ego boost that of course you knew you would receive from people who want you to stay? I think this poll was unnecessary, and for people who face a similar dilemma in the future: please make up your own mind without all the drama.
