I saw Silk Nog in the store and had to give it a try. Yummy! :lick: This stuff rocks! Highly recommended.

Interesting story about (real) egg nog: I was talking with a sewer plant engineer and he told me that a glass of after-treatment effluent from the sewer plant had LESS bacteria in it than a glass of (real) egg nog. Pretty gross.

Yup - I'll be enjoying a little kick to it during the season. :)
I also read on the carton that it is good for vegan french toast. I'll be trying it for that too. :lick:

Silk Nog is yummilicious! :lick: I've been looking for it, but haven't been able to find it yet. I know it should be stocked in the Whole Foods near me soon, as it's only around during the holidays. Since you have found some already, mountainvegan, I'll keep my radar out for it! Thanks!

I don't know why I didn't think an egg nog analogue was possible. I keep forgetting that analogues are availble for most things, actually. I was pretty sad to give up egg nog. I can't wait to get some of this!

We live with lots of bacteria, and not all of them are bad!
(After-treatment effluent would have had most bacteria killed already)
I think "Real" egg nog is gross because it has raw eggs in it. (or it is supposed to - I don't know if they allow that in store bought egg nog!)

Well, I noticed he didn't compare it to a clean glass of water!
He chuckled when he told me that. I think he was insinuating that both sewer effluent and egg nog are disgusting and have a high bacteria count, but neither will make you sick.

Does anyone know if Silk Nog is any different from Silk spice flavored soymilk?

It probably is different, but I haven't seen Silk spice flavored soymilk. Silk Nog is clearly a nondairy egg nog substitute.

They have similar flavor. The spices in the Nog are more pronounced than in the Spice flavor and the Nog is a bit richer. I always though the Spice flavor tasted like Nog cut with plain soymilk.

So how would you make vegan french toast with Silk Nog? Just dip the bread in it and toss it in a fry pan? Or is there more involved?
I haven't made "real" french toast in so long that I almost don't remember how, anyway.

does this silk nog still have the soy-ish taste to it like normal soymilks do? i still drink milk and have tried several cow's milk alternatives and havent found one that is "real" tasting enough. But mmmmmmmm eggnog, I hope this stuff is good!

it was beyond disgusting
it was as if someone took plain silk and added cinnamon and too much nutmeg to it

That's how I would make it. I don't think there's anything more than that.

I think the french toast idea sounds great! I have seen the silk nog in stores for the past few weeks and have passed it over. I think I will pick some up next time I go to the store. There is this wonderful nut bread that I get from Whole Foods - I bet that would be awesome dipped in the silk nog. :lick:
