It's a pet peeve of mine when people spell "Ghandi" and not "Gandhi".

He's a false god, like all other mortals. :p
You can't help but respect him as a leader, though. He was assassinated for trying to unite Hindus and Muslims together in an attempt to win independence for India. He knew that independence could not be won until he could get all Indians to overcome their biases and bigotry and work together.

I know a guy who's tough but sweet
He's so fine, he can't be beat
He's got everything that I desire
Sets the summer sun on fire
I want Gandhi, I want Gandhi
Go to see him when the sun goes down
Ain't no finer boy in town
You're my guy, just what the doctor ordered
So sweet, you make my mouth water
I want Gandhi, I want Gandhi
Gandhi on the beach, there's nothing better
But I like Gandhi when it's wrapped in a sweater
Some day soon I'll make you mine,
Then I'll have Gandhi all the time
I want Gandhi, I want Gandhi
I want Gandhi, I want Gandhi...

Do you like Gandhi?
Somehow from reading some of your previous posts I could tell you were a Jensen fan. ;)
And, I dunno... I have mixed feelings on Gandhi. On one hand, he helped liberate India. On the other, he was a racist, sexist hypocritical chode. So, yeah.. I dunno.

Happy B-day!
IKF, where did you hear about his racism, sexism, etc.? I've never heard anyone mention it before.

It was no fun celebrating Ghandi's birthday in India as the bars are shut all day in his honour :(

Want to celebrate this great man's birthday? Why not buy a $25,000 pen!

Mention Mahatma Gandhi and many think of fasting, restraint and the struggle for Indian independence.
He renounced material comforts, promoted Indian goods and embraced a simple, ascetic life.
These images jar with German pen maker Montblanc's launch of a $25,000 pen to mark the 140th anniversary of his birth.
'A simple lifestyle'
The $25,000 (£16,000) gold and silver limited edition pen has an engraving of Mahatma Gandhi, the man seen as the father of Indian independence and revered as a global spiritual leader.
-----------------
Each comes with an eight-metre golden thread that can be wound around the pen, representing the spindle and cotton Gandhi used to weave simple cloth.
"What we want to do is talk about the values of Mahatma Gandhi as well. And this is certainly a person who believed in non-violence, peace, education and tolerance, and these are universal values," added Mr Bethge.

Yeah that's kind of dumb...I wouldn't pay that much for a pen.

Yeah that Gandhi pen sounds like a stupid idea. However, if you want something truly valuable, I'm selling a pencil that has my bitemarks in it for only $1,500. After I mysteriously disappear in a waterskiing incident and gain a lot of post-mortem notoriety, its value will rise exponentially and you will feel like a sucker for not buying it cheap when you had the chance.
