I might have an opportunity to go to Rome for a long weekend in February and I was wondering whether anyone had any information about rescue shelters over there? Or where I can find a directory which might tell me?

Thanks in advance :)

Okay, this is kind of weird, but, I was in Rome last winter, and um... Every weekend (I think) one of the rescue shelter/humane type organizations over there has all the stray cats that hang out in the city give a "tour" of some of the historic areas. Heh. It's wild. Sorry I can't give you any details, but... once you get there maybe one of the tourist guides can explain it further?

This sounds sketchy, and bizarre... But I remember thinking it was such a neat thing, that I had to mention it.

Thanks -- that sounds really interesting. I'll try and find out more :)

Have you tried a search on google with some italian keywords?

What a good idea... do you know any italian words / language translators?

No.

If I want something like you I try this:

Google > advanced > "animal rescue" and search for pages only in the language you are looking for.

Then within results "Roma" cause italians write Rome as Roma.

I get this: http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&lr=lang_it&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&as_qdr=all&q=%22animal+rescue%22&as_q=roma&btnG=Zoek%C2%A0binnen%C2%A0resultaten

But I can't read the pages myself :(
