So, my sister (17) is thinking of going vegan in the near future. She still lives with my parents, who eat relatively healthy (for omnis.) She actually wants to go vegan now, but, is afraid without the support of the rest of the family it will be too hard. I think her for now is to try to slowly transition and be totally vegan by the time she moves away for college (lil' under a year from now.) She's coming to stay next weekend with me, and wants me to make her all kinds of vegan foods and take her shopping and show her how to cook things. Any ideas what to make? Also, any advice for getting her to go vegan now? I know for sure I'm going to be making Peta's Spinach Lasagna that everyone always loves.

Congrats to her for making the decision. You should let her go at her own pace.

As for what to cook, what's your favorite? What do you prepare reliably for yourself that you enjoy? She should see that side of the process instead of turning it in to a special occasion. It will give her a more realistic depiction of what it's like to cook vegan day-to-day.

My two cents.
