View Full Version : *Sigh* I guess this means I won't ever see my dad again.

Earlier this summer, my dad adopted two bunnies. Great. Except one thing -
one was a male, the other was female. He was told that they were both males, but since I've heard of many cases where people unknowingly bring home mixed genders, I checked to make sure. I told him that he should spay, that there are places he can go to to get his bunny spayed for free or at least a reduced price. Did he? No. He told me that he "checked" and saw testicles on both. The rabbit gave birth, as expected. He told someone at a pet store, then was suggested to seperate the babies from the mother and he did! I tried putting the babies back in with the mother, but she wouldn't accept them. *sigh* Btw, he also kept the bunnies outside all day. It was summer, but it still got very cold. Then my step sister made rude comments because I was upset that he wouldn't allow his bunnies to live inside. His excuse? They spray everywhere. Ugh. The babies are all dead. :( I was SO looking forward to spending the whole summer with him, but I guess I won't see him in a long time, if ever. Not after what happened. >.>;;

You could send him some websites of appropriate animal care, or explain to him. He prolly just didn't know.

That is pretty awful. :(

As much as that's upsetting, it wouldn't cause me to cut ties like that. He didn't intentionally kill the rabbits (what I would not tolerate) and just seems ignorant. That is just me though. Of course you seem to feel differently and that's really what counts.

Like LyricGaia said, I would pass along some animal care info if he wants to keep the adult rabbits. Also if you do end up going around him and/or the rabbits, I suggest calling the animal welfare office to see what they would be able to do in that sort of neglect situation and inform them that there have already been dead babies.

Some people have no business owning pets. I'm sorry that your father is one of them.
