Does anyone participate in the "adopt a turkey" program that Farm Sanctuary does? We do this every year and love it. The kids get to pick out which turkey they want to sponsor and then they'll send you a certificate with a picture of the turkey that you sponsor. I'd love to go to their Thanksgiving fest some year and participate in the feeding of the turkeys ceremony!

If you've never heard of this, please check it out-http://www.adoptaturkey.org/
It's only $15 per turkey and helps a great organization.

I'm going to adopt 3 one for myself, and one for my veg sister and the other for my veg cousin. I love Farm Sanctuary.

I was just on their site today looking into adoption. Money is incredibly tight right now, but I'm going to try to adopt one next payday. Hopefully next year, I'll be able to adopt a few.

We ended up adopting four of them this year. Just got the adoption material & pictures last week- the kids were so happy!

Adopted three (for each of my nieces) and got a slew of brochures/fliers to pass out here.

I love the gift adoption idea. Just throwing money at a charity seems kind of cold, but doing it like this is almost fun - and more effective (since you are bringing in others who were not exposed to the message before) :)

amazingly ive never actually given money to farm sanctuary for the 'adopt an animal' programs...

which is kinda ironic since me and my sister have brought animals to them

i think you should adopt a sheep, maybe you will get the one i brought 3? years ago

Do you know what the sheep's name is? Was it at the New York santuary? We're going there next summer & I could say "hi" to the sheep for you! :)

it was at the new york shelter...

but they changed her name for confidentiality reasons...

her name was Lucky..
i do not know her new name...

but...
i dont even know how that lucky sheep learned this, she would come running like a dog if you called her name
so try walking around the pasture and yelling Lucky!!!
if one comes running, its her

Hee hee. I'll have to do that! :) Does she still have all of her tail? Most of the sheep there have their full tails, so if hers was docked she might be easy to spot.

Thanks for posting this! At least $15 is already earmarked for this from my next paycheck.
