My site was named top blog pick of the day in the Guardian today. http://www.guardian.co.uk/weblog.

Top blog

Cyberactivist
Blog pick: A former poulty slaughterhouse worker turned animal rights activist writes about his experiences of factory farming in the US. It's powerful stuff.

My wife and I were pretty excited about this. We are hoping more people will come and read about the horrors I saw at Tyson so that we can enlighten more people to the sheer amount of cruelty. It proves yet again to me that one person can make a difference. These moments are few and far between for activists. It has left us both with a feeling of happiness and hope and we wanted to share the joy. :bobo: :vebo:

As a motorist, I really enjoyed the angle grinder man article that was referred to earlier in the article. I'd love tyo do the same kind of work that angle grinder man does.

Anyhow, I've checked your blog out before, and it's very honest and very moving. It's great to see that it's gotten some attention, and it's great to see that it's beaten angle grinder man, which i would have expected to top any "best of blogs" list.

the guardian is one of the best newspapers

I totally agree, the Guardian must be the best newspaper in England. it's really great to be mentioned in it!

They are also possibly the only paper that ever mention AR related news, and George Monbiot wrote an interesting article in the Guardian a while ago:

I have been wanting to post that article by George Monbiot, funny you should post that now :)

All honour to you, cyberactivist, being picked by the Guardian like that is pretty admireable stuff.

Thanks for everyone's support and kind words. My wife and I have been really excited about this. We have gotten quite a few extra hits from this, so a lot more people were exposed to the info. We have also gotten a few new members of the Yahoo! group I started to work on this issue - Activists Against Factory Farming. Hopefully we can get the word out to more people.

I have had a good bit of feedback, and I am thrilled that more people around the world have found out about this. If enough people know, surely they will want to do something. I just can't believe that no one cares. I have to believe they are just ignorant of the issue. The industry sure fosters that ignorance. And, of course, most meat-eaters don't like to think about that part of it. However they need to know because it's their health at stake, too.

Hopefully I can change at least a few minds. I have had a few people tell me they have quit eating meat after reading what I wrote. Some have at least quit eating chicken. Perhaps I have made at least a small difference.

Keep it up Cyberactivist! We need people like you who have been on the inside and can bear personal witness. There is a lot of ignorance about it and the meat industry is all too willing to feed that ignorance as much as possible. It's a tough battle, but it really helps when people formerly inside the industry can testify to the abuse and atrocities.

There is a chill in the air. It was in the 40's earlier, but is supposed to be about 75 today. The sun is shining finally, after several says of clouds and occasional rain and gusty winds. The leaves are starting to turn. The wildlife is busily gathering food for winter. We have seen the squirrels storing a lot, so we may be in for a bad one.

We had quite a bit of rain this year, so the acorn crop is good here, as was the berry crop. Yumm, we are still eating the blackberries we picked and froze, jellied, etc. :lick:

The birds are singing and busily bustling and twittering, storing up their fat, too. My mother-in-law's bird feeder is a busy place. The hummingbirds appear to be gone. We haven't even seen a straggler, so we will take the feeders down soon.

The air is crisp and clean and fresh. And you can hear the sound of the river softly in the background all the time. It's peaceful here. :)

Don't know if you read this, but I just wanted to add that I read about your experiences (that is, visited your site), and couldn't believe it. You portrayed the experience so vividly that it had such an effect on me that I somehow felt very detached from reality for some time. I simply couldn't comprehend how anything like that what you have endured could exist in this world. It still feels, quite simply, unreal. Literally. Your page was also the most disturbing thing I have ever read in my whole life. I also have to say that I respect you even more, because from what I read, the change you made had to require so much more than I can even imagine.

Anyway, I'm seriously going to give the link to your page to anyone I want to "convert" or at least get to consider things.

Yes, I read this. I always subscribe to threads I participate in. I am glad that you found the site helpful. Thank you for spreading it around. Everyone should know what they are supporting when they buy these products.

And, yes, the hange in me is so huge. I feel like a different person. I figure I am just doing what I was meant to do. I couldn't do it if I hadn't lived it. If I can change things, it will have been worth it. Even changing a mind or two out there is worth it because of the potential suffering that can be avoided.
