Hi everyone! (I don't know if a have to post in spanish or english... but well, I'll type it in english just in case there's someone from another country in this thread =])
I'm Celeste, 20 years old and I don't have any vegan/etarian friends, but, at least I have internet where I can find info...
Anyway, I'd be great to meet veggie people from here (Arg.) :)

Hi!
I have been living in Argentina for about a year and have recently decided to go vegetarian for several reasons. I want to be healthy and avoid the diseases that run in my family like diabetes, cancer, obesity etc
How has your experience been being a vegetarian in Argentina? Any advice/tips would be great!

Hi NZVeggie,
I have only been a vegetarian for a few weeks and I haven't gone out much but a friend from back home sent me this link that maybe will be helpful to you.

It has a list of a few restaurants and most say vegan friendly. I haven't tried them myself but hopefully one of these days.
You could buy some food at the local supermarkets. One of them is called "Disco", and they are pretty much everywhere within walking distance. Or you could find fruits and veggies at some local stands which are usually a bit cheaper.
I almost forgot to say I am situated in Buenos Aires and couldn't tell you much of places outside the city.
I hope you have a great time in Argentina, it is an interesting place!

Update: I went to Chinatown in Belgrano this weekend and found a ton of tofu. I also found soymilk, breaded soy patties, many dry beans and vegetarian dumplings. I am so pleased, I will be going back soon!
