Hiya! Trying to help my friend find homes for her cat's litter of kittens. She will not take them to a shelter but she cannot keep any, so they all need homes! Total of 6, all but one are girls. They are only 4 weeks old so she is holding on to them another 2 weeks at the minimum. Wants to wait for them to wean to solid foods 100%. Some are smaller and may need mom a little longer than others.
Anyway! http://www.postpunkkitchen.com/forum/img/smilies/smile.png The pic-vid:

As of this afternoon, the black tabby, runty boy(orange tabby), and one female orange tabby are taken. One orange tabby girl is a maybe taken, which leaves ONE orange tabby and the calico up for grabs for sure.

I've got a litter I'm looking for homes for, too. From what I've read, they need to be with mom AT LEAST 8 weeks, and at best, 10-12. Mine are only 3 weeks old so I'm going to do some more research, but you might want to mention this.
I wish her luck finding homes for the last kitties!

A kitten should stay with its mother for an absolute minimum of eight weeks and preferably 12 weeks. Although they may be "weaned" prior to eight weeks, they will still have the occasional need to nurse. Kittens taken from their momcats before this time often develop nursing behavior on themselves, other cats, humans, or fabric, and these habits will often continue throughout adulthood.
They also need this time to learn proper cat behavior from their mother cat, including use of the litter box, socializing with humans and other cats.

I sure hope your friend rescued an already-pregnant cat, and if so that's wonderful of her. If she was just careless with her own cat, shame on her.

The mama was impregnated while staying with family friends (the family moved recently) as the family moved 99% of belongings out here~ They didn't keep her inside very well I guess~ The owners have plans to spay her but cannot until the babies have weaned.
Anyway! All but the calico and one of the orange girlies are spoken for right now. So anyone still interested, those are up for grabs yet. :)

Have the mother and kittens been tested for Leukemia and AIDS? If she got pregnant she could have caught either.

Definately get mom tested for FeLV/FIV, especially since she was outside and impregnanted. Both can be STDs, though more commonly spread through saliva (FeLV-mutual grooming, FIV - bites). If she got infected, she should test positive at most a month later. If she's been inside since she got preggers, she will not have been exposed since then and the kittens only exposed from mom (if she's neg, they should be as well assuming last exposure was 1+ month ago). Also, cats can stack pregnancies, I've seen cats nursing and pregnant at the same time, so still keep her strictly inside.
