Are these vegan or not? I looked them up online, and I saw some sites which said they were and some which said they were not. So...where's that vitamin D coming from?
My Dad bought me a box of them, so I think I will finish them off and tell him they're not vegan. I'd rather do that then just waste them....? What do you think?

I have a box in my desk at work that has been there so long I should probably throw them away. Anyhow, they list B12 as an ingredient too. No cholesterol though. I'm not sure if they're vegan or not. I'd err on the side of caution and have to say they're not. I'm thowing mine right now by the way. I didn't like them at all. Sorta like gravel if you ask me.

Crap, ok. I better stop eating them. Its a problem for me, since I don't really feel a lot of guilt over eating them...its enough to make me stop, however. I gotta just tell my Dad not to buy cereals for me anymore, lol. He tries so hard, too....

Are grape nuts vegetarian in any way, because I ate them every day last week. :-/

i have no idea about grape nuts...
but dont feel bad about past mistakes
and with some things, its better not to waste
i dont know why im telling you this, but one time in chicago we found out while we were eating at soul vegetarian that what we were eating had honey in it... and naturally we got a bit upset
and my friend said 'wasted water, wasted gain... profiting off the animals pain'
anyway... whats done is done... and throwing it away would be like it was taking from the animals in vain
it also wouldnt help the animal, wouldnt change the past
the best thing to do is dont buy it again, or if it happened at the restaurant, tell them how deeply offended you are and that they may have lost some business

yeah, I told my Dad and he said it was ok, that he would eat them. I bought some Special K Red Berries, and its really yummy but kinda sugary. I gotta find some low sugar high protein cereal. It doesn't have to taste good or anything....:D

If nothing else, none of the grains in Grape Nuts are organic and, as such, some are bound to be genetically modified.

<none of the grains in Grape Nuts are not organic >
does that double negative mean that grape nuts is organic?
heh
Oops. I restructured the sentence after I wrote it, screwing up my syntax. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Yeah, but I don't really worry about organic or not. I don't have money to buy organic produce, I've really given up on it with the hopes that when I am older, with a family, I will have the means to buy organic for them! lol.

i think organic and nonorganic foods are as bad as each other
some organic foods are grown with blood and bone meal, which are byproducts of the meat industry
so buy purchasing those goods, you are indirectly supporting the meat industry
i wonder how many people on this board that eat organic food check to see whether its grown with blood/bone meal...

Kashi makes 7 In the Morning cereal and it looks just like Grape Nuts, you might want to check it out.... www.kashi.com

Nope. Never checked that. Much of the organic food I buy claims to be vegan, so it never occured to me that the organic food I buy that "looks" vegan might not be. I still prefer not to consume additional pesticides, but I'd like to avoid food grown using blood and bone meal (they don't let anything go to waste, do they?).

Rainbowmoon, thats because the second ingredeiant in Special K w/red berries is sugar. I was thinking of buying them one day and I was surprised to discover this.

I'm not sure if it's vegan or not, but it's put out by Post which is owned by a tobacco company. I'm not sure which... I'll go find out.

Ok, I found out some info. Post is put out by Kraft foods which is owned by Phillip Morris. Here's a link I found- I like their product ideas

Oatmeal is great. I usually add some fruit to mine.
I usually eat oatmeal myself - I buy the apple cinnamon flavored kind or add applesauce and cinnamon :lick:
RBM - what kind of cereal is it that you're eating now btw?

Its called
Optimum Blueberry Flax Cereal, by a brand called Nature's Path. It has 8 grams of protein in 1 cup.
Nature's Path rules my cereal school.
