I am moving at the end of the month so I want to use up as much food as I can before I move. I am really going to try not to buy impulse groceries this month and use up what's in the house. Anyone want to join me for a challenge?

I spent $13.82 this week on some fruit, soy milk and veggie ground round. Made some chili last night with some of the ground round (froze the rest), frozen vegetables and tomato, and some leftover sweet potato from Friday night dinner at my mom's. Today I had some more of the sweet potato with some leftover canned lentil soup. I am thinking of making a split pea soup for dinner tonight.

Lunch tomorrow, I am trying to take advantage of the free lunches at my camp job, but I can't eat a lot of their food. So I will take a thermos with some leftover soup from tonight and have their salad and side dish. Dinner tomorrow will be baked tofu and the rest of Mom's sweet potato.

I'll post more later. Anyone want to join me?

If you post what you have left in your pantry, I'm sure we can come up with some additional ideas for you. :)

I think since I moved out of home at 16 I've been having a pantry challenge but I just never knew what to call it before LOL

Making sure you use all your food and don't waste anything is a very satisfying thing. I always make massive bowls of soup with any leftover veges/lentils/beans/herbs and freeze it for later. It can be used as a pasta/lasagne sauce too, as well as topping for spuds if it is thick enough.

I have quite a few cans of beans, some cans of fruit, some dried pasta that has been here for ages, some dried beans I have no idea how to cook, and enough lentils/split peas/oatmeal to keep me in soups and breakfasts for awhile :) Ideally, I would like to be free of canned goods by month's end :)

I'm always up for a pantry challenge and was going through some stuff yesterday that needs to be used up before buying more.

I think the can beans would be easy. Use in pasta, soups, salads, dips or tortillas. I like some canned fruit on salads and in stirfry's or just eat it straight out of the can. :) Make some oatmeal cookies or some type of breakfast bars.

I'm using up stuff from my pantries, too. Amazing how much beans and pasta and rice I've hoarded.

Me too! Actually, both my pantry and my freezer. I mostly only buy fresh fruits and veggies anymore, because I have so much other stuff, but I can't go without the fresh produce! :pibo: :nana: :bobo: Oh, and I buy refrigerated soymilk when I need it too. My bf actually asked me if I was expecting a nuclear war! I swear, it's not that bad though. You might think that maybe there was a family of 4 living at my house though, instead of just one. :) Slowly but surely, I'm making a dent, but it will be more than a month before I'm mostly cleaned out.
