Hey fellow vegans, recently I obtained some lab tests and took samples from a wide range of Los Angeles vegan restaurants to see if the food contained casein, eggs or shellfish.

The results were pretty surprising. Lots of places came out completely clean, but you would be shocked at how many places had casein and egg ingredients.

I am really trying to get the word out on this post, because I think vegans in LA should be aware of what they are eating.

Did you approach the restaurants with your findings? If so, did they say that they would look into it and change their ingredients?

It's quite a pity because I like stopping by the Vegan Joint when I'm at the Culver City area.

I don't live in Cali, but I was intrigued and read the blog. That is appalling... I would have never imagined that a vegan restaurant would not strictly adhere the the standards that vegans expect.

im curious to know if the person that did the tests has informed the restaurants of the results yet, and if the restaurants that didn't do so great have any explanation or reasoning as to why...

It seems that they did. Or others who were friends with some of the owners informed them about it. I'm glad that the owner of Vegan Joint chose to do right thing and took the offending item off the menu until an alternative product is found.
