I know you want to talk about it. :p I have watched that show since the start. I was so hoping that they would stop filming to work out their marriage and for the kids, as Kate always says, "the kids come first." *cough* I think filming in this kind of situation is just wrong. Maybe at least for now? Let the kids grieve a little. It did seem Jon was more happy about divorce than Kate, but I can't really blame him. I was so waiting for the big announcement tonight and it made me really sad.

The whole situation makes me sad. I know Jon and Kate are saying they are doing it "for the kids," but in the end, their children are the ones who will suffer the most. When I was growing up, although my parents were not divorced, my father wasn't home very much. He was always traveling across the US and the rest of the world meeting clients, making bids, and doing what he does, and that always left me and my brother alone with my stay-at-home mom for days and sometimes weeks on end. It was tough for her, and it was especially tough when my father moved away for almost two years because he didn't want us to sell the house and go with him when he was only going to move back in just a "short" time. We got through it, but it wasn't fun only seeing my dad for a weekend once (and sometimes not even that) a month.

When I think of my experiences and then I think of Jon and Kate, I wonder, how are they going to do it? They have eight children! I know they are going to take turns throughout the week and months taking care of the little tykes, but no one can handle that all alone. And you can't raise eight children without a unified front.

Parents of a friend of mine have had relationship issues for years, kind of like Jon and Kate. But, because they have six children, they have decided against divorce and instead live in separate rooms of the house. They've made it work, and I wonder why Jon and Kate can't do it too. I agree with you; I think they should take a break from the cameras and sort out their marriage, their life, first.

This current debacle shows how much they're into it for the money. I used to not have so much annoyance with Kate, but now.... They've just jumped onto the fame/money bandwagon. I think she said she grieved for their marriage for half a day?? I'm SO glad i'm not in the limelight.

So sad. I feel for the kids.

I think the fame destroyed them. But from seeing how they interacted with eachother on every episode they did not care to mend what was broken or respect the other person.

I watched this show from the beginning and their divorce breaks my heart! I feel terrible for those poor little kids.
I think the best thing for their family would have been to cancel the show (at least for a while, if not permanently) and get counseling. I'm still wondering why Jon and Kate didn't get marriage counseling...
I've always thought Kate was a bit of a witch. I hate how she treats Jon like one of the children.

Agreed...everytime he would go to talk she would always interrupt him despite the lack of importance. She also seemed to be a bit of a control freak over family plans as well and didn't allow him to parent in his own way.

I didn't watch too many episodes but even I could see that...

I'm also with whomever said that they should take a hiatus and work on their marriage, their life, and all the issues they're facing (fame and all).

The show pretty much destroyed them and yet they're still continuing with the show, just getting a divorce. Jon expressed many times that he wanted to be done with the show. He's sick of the paparazzi and all the media attention.

I feel sorry for all of them, especially the GSDs Kate appears to hate. But really, the media needs to butt out. Sure, maybe they asked for part of it when they agreed to the show, but the public doesn't need to know every detail of their personal lives. Let those kids have a normal life.

I hope Jon gets custody of Shooka and Nala.

Its funny, I disagree with everyone about this show. I can't stand Jon. I think he is such a wet lettuce and in the middle of a mid-life crisis. It takes two and I think if he had stood up for himself in the first place she wouldnt have been able to walk all over him. I do like that she likes to feed her kids well.. with meat and all but she is very into organic.

I love that you mentioned the Dogs Wolfie, I was thinking the same thing watching it last night.

I wont watch it anymore, I dont find it entertaining to watch a family fall apart. :-( all those babies.. its so sad.

This is a sad situation and I have waaaay too many thoughts about it to say here, but I want to point out that although Kate is always saying how tough it is for her to take care of the kids "alone," they have TONS of help. TLC is paying for all sorts of nannies and organic personal chefs, and the crew is always around (they won't parent, but they obviously won't let the kids fall down a well or anything).

I stopped watching the show awhile ago, Kate is too bossy and Jon is totally disconnected from....the world!

I didn't know that they would go for divorce since that would kill the show & their money supply, so I guess they surprised me!

As for how the children will turn out?

....well I'm sure once they are older we will see them telling their crazy story on 60 minutes or something.

Never watched it, never cared to.... but I wonder.....

How many jobs will he have to work to pay child support, and will it require a time manipulation device to have enough hours in the week to work them?

Sorry but they make me sick. I've never watched a full episode of the show, only parts of it when my mom has it on. I think Kate is a b*tch to her kids and Jon. He's an ass for not standing up to her and putting an end to the show if he hated the whole thing so much. I heard him complain that they didn't ask for all this attention....um hello you are on a reality show! Kate just whines about everything and anything. She has more than enough help and her ego and money hungry attitude are out of control. They did an appearance at a local church here last summer before all this drama and they charged almost $100 a ticket to see them!

I have a few choice words myself for Kate. Jon has no job at all but he seems to want one. I would give him a little wee more respect if he took a job that I am sure will be offered to him after this. He always complains that he wants no part in it, but maybe he is stuck in a rock and hard place now.

Rather his affairs are true or not, I heard they have been seperated for like two years now. I think Jodie was the witness to the kate okay for it.. :P

Prolonging until August is just BS for the cameras... They seriously need to stop and someone needs to slap her back in la la land, darn ***** Why didn't they even give counseling a try in this situation? They went through all the trouble for the kids to be born, then they should...if they are both looking out for the kids welfare go to counseling for once. I am sure TLC would pay for it. :stinkeye:

Ratings do sell but TLC should get a grip on this.

I actually only started paying attention to it when I heard they were getting the dogs. I thought from the start Kate + dogs wouldn't mix, just from the bits and pieces I'd seen before. Those kids are all unbelievably freaking adorable, but tv shows centered around kids aren't generally my thing. Now dogs, OTOH . . . :p

Now I've got to ask.... I was watching NCIS on the DVR and it ended and I happened to be on TLC... and guess what show was on??? Yep... this one...

Anyway, they showed her husband and her talking to the camera... it was an episode from 2008... and uh... they didn't look happy... they looked like two people who were forced to be in the same room together. Or I should say she seemed "happy" to talk to the camera, he seemed more like "are we done yet? and can't you just shut up?"

What sickens me a lot are all the people seem to be going after Kate and not Jon at all... I mean, yeah, Kate seems like a total control-freak, mean, severe person, but the way Jon keeps playing the victim and letting Kate walk all over him. Ugh.

I dont know why people keep saying they're glad the show is over, there is going to be another season. They'll continue their drama by taping seperately.

That is very true what it is like. Kate loves that she has became a celeb. Jon is not so much 'wowed' about it.

I am sure he has regrets about that and will always, but I think it's just his personality. It does not come natural to him.
