Does anyone know of any mainsteam bagels at grocery stores that are vegan?
I haven't bought any in awhile, but my mom is going to pick some up for me when she comes over. I can't remember which ones I use to get. I do remember that most were vegan except the wheat (and obviously egg) and I think it was Lenders that had eggs in all their bagels.
Anyway, does anyone know of any off hand that I can just give her a name to pick up?
Thanks!

I believe Kroger brand bagels are vegan.
edit: Just checked your profile and saw that you're in California. I don't think there are any Kroger stores there, but I think they have the same parent company as Ralphs grocery and Food 4 Less which are in California. So you could check the store brands there.

Just watch out for dough conditioners, like L-Cysteine and DATEM (which can be plant derived) other than that no advice, its a totally different world on this side of the country

Thank you Nessus and Playbackguru! I think I might just have her get Ezekiel bread, since it is easier ingredient wise. It doesn't taste as good, but it is healthier :).
Thank you Nessus for the info about Food for Less and Ralph's. Those 2 store are in the opposite direction. So I am sure she won't be going there, but that is great to know for next time.
The last time I got bagels I do remember most I found were vegan, but it has been so long I don't want to say just pick some up and them not be, because then she will feel bad. I even remember getting these really good chocolate chip bagels, they were so good... ok, sorry i'm hungry. I think I better go eat :).
Thank you both!

I believe Thomas brand bagels are vegan if those are available in your area.

Thomas' are indeed vegan (at least the plain variety are, not sure about the others). They're what I buy. :D

Thank you everyone!
To answer my own post I think the chocolate chip bagels were made by Sarah Lee. It was a long time ago since I had them, so ingredients could have changed, but I believe that was the brand.
Thank you, everyone, for your help!

I know you're looking for store bought bagels, but when you have time.....you should try making your own. Not only is it super easy, but OMG they are so much better than anything you can buy. King Arthur's Flour has several recipes online and they are amazing!! I just add a bit of roasted garlic and seasoning.....yum! They're completely vegan (just don't brush the egg whites on the outside.....I brush some olive oil instead and then salt a bit).

I've made my own before after seeing a recipe on vegweb. I was amazed at how easy it really was and how good they tasted.

I always thought that bagels were hard to make, so never tried. I think I will have to try. That would be pretty cool to make my own. :)
