I am giving serious thought to adopting another cat. It has been a little over a year since Nibbles died and I think I am ready. I actually got out some of my cat reference books to start reading and I visit the Humane Society's web site almost daily to check out the available cats. My sister and her husband recently got a dog so i am the only one in the family without a pet. Frankly I miss having a cat around. I am hoping to do it within the next month or so.

Good luck finding a fuzzy to add to your family :)

That's great! I know it takes awhile to "get over" a pet's death, but I'm glad you're going to adopt again. Do you think you'll get a kitten or an older cat?

Don't worry - I'll definitely post pictures, lots of pictures :) I am looking for a cat around 1 - 2 years old so it will be out of the kitten stage, but still have a long life ahead of it. There are so many cute ones listed on the Humane Society's web site that it is hard to choose. I'll have to do a meet and greet at the Society and see who selects me :) I always remember how Nibbles came and sat on me as I will filling out the application so hopefully one will make it that obvious this time.

If you don't mind traveling to the Chicago area, I know of a few cats who meet your criteria. One is a black and white female who was originaly a stray. There's also a set of brothers about 2 years who's owner lost her job and house and almost her car which she was living in for 3 days (I don't feel too sorry for her, she was going to have her brother shoot the cats instead of giving them to a shelter "then I will always know where they are"). The boys don't have names unless you consider "Grey" and "Grey and White". I can give you more info if you or anyone else is interested, though it may take me a day or so to find out what you want to know.

I want to adopt another one myself! I just don't know how my current 3 year old male kitty will respond.
