Smart Balance Light

I was always under the impression that Smart Balance LIGHT is vegan. However, the tub that's here at my parents' house has lactic acid listed as one of the last ingredients. It's advertized as 'now with Flax Oil,' so maybe that has something to do with it?

Lactic Acid does not from from milk.

Oh ok, I just figured because it's widely called "milk acid" around here.

Don't worry; it's a common misconception. I think that I read something about that if it's in a dairy product like ice cream, the lactic acid might come from animals, but you wouldn't be eating that anyway and I can't source it.

Yeah, I think I only learned about it because I've seen people concerned about lactic acid on this site. It's good to know now though, thank you!
