Just wondering, as far as I know Native Americans before white settlers came didn't have dairy sources for calcium and I don't think they broccoli or whatever because those plants weren't native, so where did they get their calcium? Does this mean if you go backpacking you could still get all the calcium you need from the plants around you? What plant's native to north america can count as good calcium sources? this isn't another "where do you get your calcium" thread, just something that made me curious.

well, I googled and maybe think it's cranberries and fish...They used to make pemmican w/cranberries...Maybe cornmeal also?
Well, no. actually cranberries seem to affect calcium absorption...But the fish makes sense, and dunno about cornmeal, but I read about molasses, maybe that's one of them...
