Hi Everyone. Here's your place to get encouragement and accountability for the month of May. This is the place to state your goals, victories or slip-ups and generally encourage each other on our weight loss journey.
Make a plan for the month. State your goals and get to it. Post as often as you want or need to. This is your place for support. May brings warmer weather for us in the Northern Hemisphere and with that all the temptations that warm weather brings. I don't know about all of you, but this is the time I start eying the barbecue and thinking about veggie burgers and hot cats (my name for the vegetarian hot dog.) And then of course I'm thinking potato and pasta salads to go along with all that great outdoor food. Of course bbqs don't have to be fattening or unhealthy. So here's to a warm and healthy month of eating and great exercise. Do not become discouraged if you slip up and eat off plan or not get in your exercise goals. Each day dawns bright and new and so we can carry on and know that one off-plan day is not a disaster. Here's to a great, healthy May!!!

Ok, here I go...yet again (queues broken record ;) )
I have two measly pounds to go to get into the 140s, so I will continue tracking food and keeping up with my walking five to six days a week. I also will do a bit better with water, as I kind of slacked on that of late.

you will defiantly be able to drop those two more pounds!! Especially since you're walking so much!
I hope to loose another five pounds. I don't know if I'll be able to get a lot of exercise in, but I should be able to cut down on my food intake a bit more.

I'd love to be around 129 by the end of May also but I'll be happy with 135. I'm going to try and get outside and walk but that may be difficult with mom and DH's schedule. At any rate I'm going to keep up the inside exercise and try my hardest to stay away from chips and too many desserts...sigh...

Count me in this month! My goal is to fit into my old jeans that I wore after I came home from my work term in Hawaii 3 years ago. In Hawaii, I had to walk to work every day, 20 minutes up a very VERY steep hill (so steep I almost had to run down it on the way home from work!). Doing that 5 days a week made me drop 15 pounds in 3.5 months. I bought a bunch of new clothes and wore them for the next 8 months, then they got too tight. I kept them as motivation that I would one day wear them again.
I plan to go to the gym 5 times a week. I did this back in February for 2 consecutive weeks and got addicted, then I had to go out of town for a few days and I never got back into my routine :( . I know if I can just go 5 times in 1 week, I'll be addicted again and start going regularly.
I don't really have a goal weight, I just want to fit into those jeans! I figure it will probably take 6-8 weeks, so I'll aim to reach my goal by the end of June.

Hi all, I've got some downtime so I thought I'd pop in. Taiwan's AWESOME. Oh my god. So much vegan food! I can die happy now.
I won't be back home in Japan until the 8th, but I'll post my goals now anyway.
- get waist to 30" down from 30.5" when I left Japan on the 29th.
- drink lots of water
- eat at least one fruit every day, and at least two green things
- some form of exercise at least 3 times a week (including belly dance and kendo)
- stretching and crunches 3x per week
- continue with weight watchers (once I get back to Japan, I'm certainly not taking the time to go on and log what I've eaten here!)
We spent yesterday walking all day, and today walking/biking. Tomorrow we're going down south, and we'll spend Sunday exploring a marble gorge, and probably biking. I seriously love it here. I'm thinking that when I'm done with Japan, I might come here for a year or two... *lovelovelove*
Anyway, good luck to everyone! Yaaaaaaay, May! *not March, haha*

helloo everyone again. i successfully lost 7 lbs in april, and i would like to lose hopefully 8 lbs in may! to total it off at a 15 lb loss =) 15 is a good number. i have 31 lbs total to go, and my goal is to get there by the end of the year, and i know i can do it! i am sort of following Fuhrman's Eat To Live -- not to the T, but pretty close, and its actually not been too difficult.
this month i hope the weather will be more reliable so i can start walking more, ditching the car when i can use my own two feet. continue to take my dogs out for more walks, and continue eating healthier!

I'm back in for May. I was pretty quiet in April, but I did manage to lose about 2 pounds. It didn't meet my goal, but it was something.
My goals for May:
- lose 5-7 pounds
- walk/jog 2 miles 3x a week
- yoga 2x a week
- strength training 2x a week
- eat lightly (take advantage of all the in season fruits and veggies)

Hey you guys.
So, I'm dealing with middle-age spread. I look at myself, and can't quite grasp where the extra poundage came from (well, yes I can..)
So my goal is to lose 15 pounds in the next two months.
I found that tracking my calories really helps me stay on course, so I researched all sorts of calorie and exercise tracking software for windows and mac. I ended up buying dietpower (.com) NOT the slickest interface in the world, but by and large the best feature set for me.
So then.. Keeping track of the calories, starting to do a little more exercise.. Day 4, so far so good.
What techniques do you guys use, if any, to help yourselves?
Edit - Forgot to mention, it seems academic, but an accurate digital scale helps.

My goal for the month is 7-8 lbs. I managed to lose 6.6 during the three weeks I was on my plan so I'm hoping the 7-8 lb. goal I've set for myself this month will be attainable. If the weather ever warms up I'd like to start walking at least a few times a week but I'll DEFINITELY walk to my Weight Watchers meetings every Tuesday if the weather is warm. I need to stay on track with my points which I've been doing and I need to drink more water!!

Ok here I am again! I have been weighing every Sat. so I will report weight tomorrow. I have been eating a lot lately, BUT have started walking as well so I hope no gain! I walked alone today as Jer's legs are sore from overdoing the other day. I managed 4 miles!! My goals are the same as always: Less sweets, more exercise! I would like to get into the 120s by the end of May.

I went for a two mile walk/jog this morning. I've got to build my endurance back up again before I'll be able to run the whole thing. But I feel good about it. The exercise piece is what's been lacking for me the last couple of months. Plus, running in the rain is my new favorite activity!!!

I weighed 134.4 this morning so I lost 2.2 pounds in April. Not quite my goal but a loss nevertheless!! Yay!! I WILL hit 130 by the end of the month!! No walk today but maybe we can get the kids out to the park in the morning.

Hello VeggieFrank. Glad you are joining in. I use fitday.com to track my calories and exercise. I'm a Calorie Counter and try to keep between 1200-1400 calories per day. I'm finding it hard to lose the last 10 pounds that would bring me to the goal weight I set for myself. That would make 62 pounds lost but as it stands I've got about 52 pounds lost. We'll tomorrow if that number changes.
This has been a good week. Today I probably ate too much banana bread yesterday but I stayed within my calorie range so I should be OK. That banana bread was good--had chocolate chips, cherries and walnuts, yum. It's just too bad I'm such an excellent baker. :D
I weighed in this morning and went down 1.5 pounds for the week so I'm going down. WTG, Chryssiie on your 2.2 loss. You'll be slim and trim by the summer.

Figured I would jump in. I need to lose some bodyfat right now. I don't really look at scale numbers since they aren't that accurate when you're also gaining muscle. But I need to drop a couple percent on the body fat scale because the training I'm doing is being hindered. Just went back to using my foodscale on a regular basis.

Thank you Isabella. I'l check out fitday.com -- I like the idea of an online, access from anywhere website.
52 pounds is amazing, good job.
I find I have to stay in the 1500 cal range (without exercise) if I don't want to feel hungry.

I had a super busy morning and then a super lazy afternoon today. I stayed within my point range today but went a bit over yesterday. It's not too big of a deal seeing as it was only a couple points and I have a 35 point bank to play with each week. I haven't touched it till now. I'd like to stay on track the next couple days and hopefully find a bike at a garage sale this weekend. I'd love to start bike riding!! I can't wait to see what the scale says on Tuesday. I can feel my double chin melting away before my eyes and I love it!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!! Peace & Love!!

I had a sedentary, work from home day, and I'm on track (actually, running a bit of a calorie deficit for today.)
I'm going to try to get some bicycling in tomorrow, thanks for the idea Nickle00.

I can feel my love for the gym coming back! I went yesterday, and I'm going to go this morning. Then again Tuesday and Wednesday. If I can do that, I'll probably be hooked and stick with the schedule I made for myself.

I realized something today: for me being healthy is all about physical activity. I can eat healthy when I'm not getting exercise, but I still don't feel completely good. When I am active, I find that I have a very positive outlook and generally feel healthier (probably from the endorphins). But I also tend to eat healthier because I'm in touch with my body and I want to nourish it properly.
This is what's been missing for me the past two months. I kept telling myself that I needed to get my eating under control and then I would focus on exercising. But that's not a good strategy for me.
Yesterday I jogged 2 miles and then walked about another 3 getting groceries. And today I cleaned the house for about an hour and a half and then I got on my elliptical machine for 30 minutes. And I feel great! My attitude is positive (for the first time in a while) and I'm not having any trouble with my eating. I'm feeling really good about this month and I hope that I can keep it up!
