I notice whenever I get the little juice box sized Edensoy soy milk, when I pour it, the soy milk will come out but them these nasty globs will come out too!! And not even near the end, sometimes right when I open and start pouring, what's up with that??? That's so gross. Unfortunatly that's the only brand of little boxes that the grocery store sells (I like to use the little boxes for cooking since they last a long time). I'm thinking of writing a letter to the company and complaining, cause this happens EVERY time I've bought them!

hmm.. i always buy edensoy and have never experienced this problem, except for sometimes at the end. maybe your grocery store is not refrigerating them properly?

Edensoy does not need to be refridgerated before it is opened though, does it? Personally, I think Edensoy is the worst tasting thing I've ever put in my mouth... although I have not experienced the lumps...

Are you shaking it before you use it? I don't know if you have to, I've never had Edensoy, but I always shake my Rice Dream.

oh good point, no it doesn't need to be refrigerated. i stand corrected :) although i imagine the packages need to be kept at least at room temperature.

Edensoy is really gross!! I buy it to make pancakes though, because it seems to be thicker than many soy milks - makes the pancakes the perfect texture.

I have experienced the globs too, so I just shake mine really good - every time I grab it out of the fridge.

yeuch! i tried edensoy once and hated it. i only buy Natur-a brand now. good stuff :lick:
i occasionally get little tiny lumps in it if i forget to shake it or if it's near time to throw it out (it's only good for 7-10 days after opening but i sometimes forget what day i opened it and keep using it) but they're not like big gross chewy lumps or anything lol

i've seen Natur-a in the little drink box size and also Belsoy

Asian (korean) grocery stores sell a few different brands of the little boxes...
They even have banana, strawberry and chocolate flavors (among others)sometimes, but be sure to read the label, I don't know if they are vegan or not...

Yeah, they don't need to be refridgorated, so I don't know what their problem is. I've never had this happen with other companies (except towards the end of a box). It's so gross. It happens regardless if I shake it or not. I guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for other companies next time I go to Trader Joes.

I'd send the company an e-mail about this. Maybe they can shed some light on it for you. You might even get some coupons from them for it!

I have tried many soymilks; Edensoy Extra (plain) is the one I keep coming back to. It blends better, it is nice in tea and coffee, makes good French toast and it has a nice color instead of that nasty phosphoric glowing white that so many *milks* have. It does not have a beany flavor and in the plain it does not taste like candy. Then again, when I just want something to drink I choose juice with calcium or plain water. I have drunk it to kill off a carton but I like juice better.

I only get lumps in *milk* that is close to or past the pull date.

I've had lumps in my soy milk, before. Every single time, it's been because I didn't shake it well enough. As silk says, "Shake well. Buy often."

Edensoy, the shelfstable variety has a life of about 1 year. Sometimes groceries aren't good about removing such shelfstable items from their shelves and may even "restamp" the expiration date. First, I suggest buying soymilk from a place that has a "high soymilk turnover" (Larger volume healthfood store, asian grocery) If there is a higher product turnover it tends to be more fresh.

Second about the blobs, if the *milk* comes out in solid "blobs" it has curdled and definatly not usable. It also has a noticible stench. If the *milk* comes out thin then thick it needs to be shaken well. This results when the water separates from the rest of the bean. I agree with everyone who said give the box a good shake. :bobo: :vebo:

I used to buy the little boxes of Edensoy, although I can't find them where I am now. I never had a problem with lumps, although I shook mine as I do all soy milks because the fat separates. If you have a problem with lumps even after shaking, I would wonder about the place you're buying them...

I love Silk, I have tried Unsweetened Silk, Vitasoy, Westsoy and Eden and Silk is the best, then the Vitasoy, then the Westsoy, then Eden. Eden has a weird aftertaste, but no lumps. I love making shake recipes with either Silk or Westsoy. I have tried the Asian Grocer Vitasoy and I have one word for you...
BEANY ! Even the Vanilla, I have tried Vanilla and the Plain. I have not tried the Chocolate or the Melon or Strawberry. Shannon

I shake it every single time, doesn't work. Perhaps my store I buy from is just weird and letting them sit in the back for years or something. I wrote them an email and they offered to send me free soy milk, so that's cool. I hope they don't send me curtled milk though!!
