I need to buy a lawn mower for my house, since I'm tired of paying too much for someone to do it with a gas mower (and I have boyfriend to mow for me). I'm looking to get a cordless electric one that mulches and bags (not at the same time, but has both options). My entire lot is about 0.25 acre (include house, garage, driverway, etc.). I'm very confused by the reports out there and thought maybe someone here can give me some guidance. I also have a very steep, yet small front yard.

electric are ok, there are usually drawbacks with most electric yard tools like less power, not as much working time (power runs out sometimes before work is finished), and of course that they still use power of some sorts (even though its much better than gas when it comes to enviro. friendly)
i just convinced my bf to switch to a self powered mower, he used to use the excuse that our yard was too big, but we moved so now no excuses. we have an old used one that we got the blades sharpened on, it works great.

I currently use a fuel mower, but as I'm attempting to reduce the amount of grass we have in our backyard to a very small amount we will start using one you push yourself. These are great if you are willing to cut the grass every couple of weeks.

I've always avoided electric ones as I've generally needed something with more power, and if it's only a smaller space I'm more than willing to push one myself. We used to use one a while ago and I found it more effort than it was worth.

we always had an electric mower in england (with a cord) and it was fine. you just really don't wanna run over the cord. :D cordless mowers should be ok, why shouldn't they be? worst comes to worst and you run out of juice you can just mooch back to the charger, charge it up again, and finish the job later.

I can't use a corded anything that cuts. I used a corded hedge trimmer and guess what!!! I cut the cord both times. I'm crrently looking at a Worx 37015. It has both a bag and mulches and the battery is easily removable, so I can replace it easily if it wears out or have second one on hand if I take too long cutting.

Forget cordless! I used to have a cordless weed eater and it was very weak and didn't even come close to trimming my driveway and and around the house. The batteries died quickly. A mower would be even worse.

Have you considered the old fashioned manual mowers:

They do an ok job and require no power (other than human power). But the best mower of all is, of course, a gas mower.

Cordless things never last very long.

I hate electric mowers, they don't have any power, especially the cordless ones, I was doing some yardwork for a friend who had one and it was a major PITA, if you really don't want a gas mower buy an old fashioned push mower, it will be better, more trouble free and even greener than an electric mower
