So, here's the situation:
I have this choir concert coming up where we HAVE to wear white shoes (my choir director wants us to look uniform). So, my mom and I went to the store. She told me that this was the only store that we were going to, because we don't have any time else to shop for shoes (the concert is tomorrow). Unfortunately, as I walked around the store they ONLY had leather! :(
It ended up that I had to get the leather shoes, (no choice!), and I have to wear them for school next year in gym class! What do I do? What are your reactions to this (have you had similar experiences)?
:help:

You are not in control of this situation. Your mom dictated what shoes were selected and paid for the shoes with her money. You would have done differently if you were in control of the transaction. So while its regrettable, don't beat yourself up over it. Wear the shoes and keep them for future choir performances. If you get some money in the future go ahead and source your own non-leather shoes and pay for them yourself.

Next time your mum insists on getting something leather, try and push for looking in a second hand store.

That way, you aren't supplying a demand for more leather, you are just reducing the amount of leather goods that end up in a landfill.

You werent in control of the situation, try not to beat yourself up over it.

What I would do is, try to find a store in your area that has non-leather shoes. Maybe browse the shoes while you're at certain stores. Then, next time when you need shoes and your mom doesnt want to go to a bunch of different places, you can ask her nicely to go to so-and-so store instead.
