I've lived in the Tacoma area off and on through-out my life and now I'm moving back again after living in south Jersey for the last 4yrs. I am super stoked! I wasn't a vegetarian the last time I lived in WA, so I really don't know the good places to go to in Tacoma and the surrounding area. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

I was looking on Happy Cow and did find that Quickie's Too has a vegan restaurant on MLK Way, and I also saw Marlene's Health Food store and I know there's a Trader Joe's in University Place and Federal Way. I did notice quite a few Indian and Asian places with veg options, but I was wondering what people here might recommend also. I plan on going vegan once I move, so I'm really looking for places that have vegan options.

I seriously can't wait to get back to the pacific northwest, there is nowhere else lke it.

Star of India is on Pac Hiway So at 260th. There's also a Salvadorian restaurant in the little shopping centre there, near an abandoned Albertson's.

I know what you mean. I am currently on the east side of the state and greatly miss the west side (Spokane just doesn't do it for me). And, just like you, the last time I was in Tacoma (as a PLU student) I was not a veg*n and there are significantly more veg*n options in the Seattle-Tacoma area than there are in Spokane.

Glad you moved back (five months ago lol).:)

You will want to invest in an ORCA pass, I guarentee that. If you are going somewhere and parking's expensive or you are parked at home because you couldn't get to the event (i.e. the Puyallup Fair, or a Mariner's game) an ORCA pass will pay fares on 8 different counties public transportation, including Light Rail, Sounder Transit, the Ferries, and buses. I hope this helps.

An ORCA pass would be great... if Puget Sound transportation actually GOT someone somewhere but for the most past it's just a mess! (Unless you want to take the Sounder to a game and ride with all the drunken partyers - hahahahah!)

It gets me to school and back. Oh, nevermind. Different thread. Almeria, here's a webpage that will take you to a list of vegetarian/vegan restaurants and stores in the Tacoma area.

I hope this helps. Good luck with the move.
