My old leather wallet is dying on me and I need a new one. Now that I'm going vegan I want one that's cruelty free. What brands do you recommend?

Same thing with belts, I saw a cool hemp free, fair trade one but it was crazy expensive.

I got a nice nylon wallet form KMart for 3 bucks, its going on 2 years now, also I wear canvas belts from military surplus stores, no need to spend big bucks on trendy hemp.

I found a great wallet at www.veganessentials.com but for belts and guitar straps, Couch is hard to beat: www.couchguitarstraps.com

I recently did a review on Truth Belts and Splaff - they are both great! Check out the reviews at ecoki.com

This is a local store, I've met the owner, he seems nice.

Fast and Furless wallets (http://www.fastandfurless.com/products/wallets/unisex)

ETA: I have one of the "Hempmania" wallets for the past year. Nice and durable.

I've had this wallet pretty much since I went vegan so coming up on three years I guess. It's a great little wallet. My only complaint is it's a little too small so when it's fool I sit a little crooke

I had my hemp wallet for over 2 years and it's working great. I also have had these hemp shoes for awhile and they are great too. They are starting to get small holes in them but I still wear them and like the way they look. As for a belt, I bought one of the faux leather ones from Pangea. All of these items have lasted me for awhile :)

Speaking of hemp shoes...I have a few pairs of Simple's Green Toe ones and haven't worn them more than once or twice per pair. Does the hemp soften up with wear or do they stay semi-stiff?

I love them and I'll keep wearing them no matter what, just wondering. :)

And on the subject of vegan wallets, I use a Jimi wallet (http://thejimi.com/) (the original one, not the Jimi X with the clip on the back). Mine's a little warped because I put too much in it one time, but it's holding up pretty well. It's a pain if you carry several credit cards and need to get to them quickly since you can't take just one card out without taking out all the ones on top of it (same for putting them back in). The other issue is it doesn't hold much, but I don't carry a lot with me, so it's fine. I've got 3 credit cards, my library card, car insurance card and a couple receipts in mind and that's about all it'll hold.

You can also try www.mattandnat.com for wallets. They are a bit more expensive, though.

I have a Matt & Nat wallet and I love it. I've had it for about a year and a half and it's still in really good condition.

I quit smoking about 6 months ago and my present to myself was a Matt & Nat bag. Expensive, but it's super durable.

I love Matt & Nat. I have a few of their bags and they're really nicely made. :D

I'm quite rough with my Matt and Nat bag (I use it to carry books and other things for school), and it has held up very nicely- even as well as my old leather purse. I would say most of their products are definitely worth the price.

This site usually has more vegan belts along with wallets, not so much today though. http://www.angryyoungandpoor.com/store/pc/cjQuickFind.asp?keyWord=vegan&exact=2

These belts on Etsy.com seem of good quality for the price, it's pretty much the same concept of Spaff products that are made of recycled rubber. The same seller makes different width sizes, but you've got to provide your own buckle; which can be fun!http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23060064 You can find some great wallets on Etsy too!
