Oh goodness.... a makeup thread :p

I'm going to ULTA today and will be staring lovingly at all the UD stuff. Last weekend I got the eye primer (love it!) and midnight cowboy eyeshadow. The e/s is super sparkly and fun. I haven't worn something like that in at least 8 years. Last night for our date I wore the primer, EDM smokey eyeshadow as a liner, midnight cowboy, and the big fatty UD mascara. Way more makeup than I usually wear but my Husband loved it.

The only thing that sux about UD (besides the price tag!) is the fact that if you get sucked in to the display and aren't careful to look at each product you can end up grabbing something not vegan. I did that last weekend and was so pissed. It's a fantastic line but why the hell can't they make it all vegan?! Seems like the top 3 things I want aren't ok :brood:

*goes off to shop online for some EDM and ELF :)*

I have to get off the computer now and go shower for work, but I'll reply to this thread when I get back in a few hours :)

I have yet to try their mascara though. I think sephora has a small sample pack of the mascara, primer potion, and maybe the lip plumper for around $22, I was going to get it but it had a lot of bad reviews because it was so small so I figured I'd just save up and get the regular sizes.

i'll make heather choke and splutter at the price, i bet, but i use Blinc Kiss Me mascara (from sephora, but i've seen it at the BSO too) purely because its invincable and doesn't or run smudge ever.

this is cos its like galoshes for your lashes, and it coats them all the way around and forms little plasticy tubes, instead of just painting on. its the only mascara i've ever used that stays on (i have oily skin too, and deep set eyes, so i lose normal waterproof mascara in a nice black stripe along my socket bone).

you put it on, and it sets in about a minute. after that, the only way to get it off is with warm water and wiggling- its kinda cool cos it comes off as the entire little tubes, and they look like a pile of spider-legs in your bathroom sink.

you can sleep with that stuff on, and its still there the next day. doesn't budge for anything. :D

Oo that stuff sounds awesome, I'll have to add it to my wishlist :D

ohh this thread is making me excited. I know almost nothing about makeup so I'll be going to one of those places that do your makeup free and tell you what stuff to buy. Then I will go find something similar in these vegan makeup brands you're talking about. I need a makeover badly! I can't wait til I get myself some new makeup!

I love Urban Decay. It's gotten the cold shoulder from me lately because I've been all about mineral makeup (I love Aromaleigh (http://www.aromaleigh.com) something fierce), but I'm going to start wearing my UD again. The colors are phenomenal and so smooth. :smitten:

I have one of their Magic Dust e/s, Crystal Ball! I haven't tried it out yet, but it looks great. I've been drooling over most of the colors, but $12 is still too expensive for me. :(

I am in love. Time to start making a list of eyeshadows I want haha.

I dont mind paying a bit more for makeup if i know its animal friendly and good quality. id rather buy 1 eyeshadow thatll last me forever (my urban decay khaki-ish colour ive had almost a year and its still going, i wear it almost daily)than 3 crappy ones that rub off after an hour

I loved my sparkly eyeliners but I lost them all =( boo. one was superduper limited edition in a pack of 3 and it took me AGES to convince my friends to split the money so i could have the green one haha

I'm trying to figure out my bills right now.... but if allowed, I will pick 1 fun things up from Sephora :pibo:

Okay, 1 thing... I already have enough Primer Potion to last me into my 30's :p I am fair (neutral), blonde, green eyes... any specific color I should go for in terms of eyeshadows or whatever I should get?

If you want highly pigmented makeup, this stuff is practically paint! I use to use it all the time. I don't know of anyone else online selling it, as I've once searched for the company and didnt find anything, but this seller has had it for years! I also don't know if it is vegan, but I am sure she'd know if one asked. It's called Kryolan. http://health-beauty.shop.ebay.com/items/Makeup__W0QQ_catrefZ1QQ_flnZ1QQ_sacatZ31786QQ_ssnZ shrinkleQQ_trksidZp3911Q2ec0Q2em282

To be honest you can use anything! I'm very fair with blond hair and green eyes as well and I don't think I've found one eyeshadow color that just doesn't look good. I usually don't wear blue though, that's the one that just doesn't look very good on me. Maybe a really light silvery blue but that's about it. I like neutral browns and a dark shimmery silver, like UD's gunmetal. You could always get a palette and see what you like, that's what I did :) There are plenty of eyeshadow palette's out there, you don't have to get UD, you could just find a cheap one to see what colors you like. I got one from Ulta before I found out the aren't cruelty free :( I wish they were because that palette was great, it had everything including like 25 eyeshadows and it was just $20.

Oh I've heard good things about coastal scents and they're palettes are all around $20 but I'm not sure if they're cruelty free. I know most of it is mineral makeup and they seem to be into the environment so who knows, I'd assume they are but I'm not sure.

they're hard to find vegan, but i'd go for plum or purple- which will give your eyes loads of impact. i have dark slatey blue eyes with gold in them, and they look green, and purple and plum tones make my eyes look exceedingly excellent.

the deep purple smoke-out eyepencil is really really nice (i can't wear it cos i have really oily skin so it disapears rapidly, but it goes on and blends beautifully)... or if you like warmer colours, maybe try the roach shadow. if you use it like a liner, goddess (dark blue) might look good on you too- as a softer alternative to black liner (which can be harsh on blondes).

That's true, purple shadow or eyeliner can really make green eyes pop! Sometimes I wear a neutral pink eyeshadow with a dark purple eyeliner and I can really tell a difference.

I love ED. I really started wearing makeup after becoming vegan, so this is the only brand I have ever used. I use the lip gloss, blush and foundation. That's all I can afford :(

I stay away from blues too. I actually have a HUGE range of colors, love a lot of them, just wondering what specific color you'd recommend :) Like with EDM, I LOVE purples, but Tide Pool is one of my favs and I'd recommend it to someone else.

Just some of my eyeshadow:

A kindred spirit. I use an old desk as a vanity and I too have the lip gloss drawer, face drawer, I actually lost count of my eyeshadows....

I don't have very much UD stuff. When I travel somewhere with a Sephora I'll pick some up, but that isn't too often. Maybe once a year.

:D That's me too! I seriously have about 50 lipglosses/lipsticks. You can never have enough, that's my theory.

What's your favorite UD product that you have?

Sounds like you'd be right at home over at our EM thread.. :shifty:

I have 2 full e/s drawers, 2 full miscellaneous eye stuff drawers, 2 full brush drawers, 2 overflowing l/g and l/s drawers, 1 full blush drawer, 1 foundation/concealer drawer, a giant basket filled with l/g.. and 18 large jars and compacts plus my UD palette that have completely taken over the bathroom counter.

I'm afraid to count the e/s... but I have 124 l/s and l/g. :o

What was with the Breakdancing Session in Progress thing that was everywhere a second ago?
