Today I went on three different walks. The first one was about 35 minutes long and I went to out very hilly cemetary. Then I took the dog for a walk around the block (10 minutes maybe). This evening, dad and i took the dog on another walk for about 35 minutes. I am probably going to be sore tomorrow, but the weather was so nice that I wanted to do as much as possible outside.

Krista- I am the exact opposite. The weather is getting cooler, and I am DYING to run....but trying to take a week off of my feet. Its VERY annoying....I just want to run.
I am also taking the weekend off hamstering....tomorrow I get to work out!! But no running.... hehehe
YAY!
lovenlight,
linz
I almost hate to post that I ran yesterday because I know how you feel when you can't, rainbowmoon. I've had to take time off before too because of the feet. I constantly stretch the hamstrings in the back of my legs even in bed before I go to sleep and before I get up I stretch and that has helped a lot. When it was really bad I had to wrap my foot with an elastic bandage overnight and even resorted to making a paper mache boot to take stress off that tendon.
Yesterday I ran 3.1 and also walked 2 miles while collecting donations for Race for the Cure.
Krista - same here. It's Winter, I'm being lazy :p
New hamster week :vebo:
I did my abs today. That's it :whip: Though I may do errands later with my mom.
Beautiful day today! :sunny:
hiking, 1/2 hour
biking, 12.7 miles, 1 hour (to Terry Andrae State Park, Slynny!)
upper body & abs strength training, 1/2 hour
stretching, 10 minutes
phew!

Good start to the week hamsters!
8 mile run. I tried buying some biker shorts like you suggested sky, and they worked out great! The run today was not my best, but not my worst either, so I guess thats a good thing. :)
8 miles sounds great, CaptainSwab, but I know how it is...some runs just feel better or worse than others. I'm glad the bike shorts are working out. I hate to, but that's probably what I'll wear for the 5K next Saturday along with a t-shirt long enough to cover my rear end.
Today I signed up for the 5K and I'm so disappointed. First off they ran out of t-shirts which they might or might not get some more in. Then they gave me my race number. Later I noticed the date didn't seem right and then I saw that it's the 2001 race date so I guess they are using up old race numbers. Normally it wouldn't matter, but since it's my very first race I was wanting to keep the race number and now it won't even have the right date on it.
Ran 3.25 miles today.

- 40 minutes on the elliptical, using the "fat burn" option
- 10 minutes on the treadmill, running
- 10 minutes on the stairmaster, using the "fat burn" option
- 100 crunches, 75 side-reaches, 75 bicycle crunches
- 60 push-ups
- 50 lunges
- 50 squats
- one set of 12 reps for each of the following: bicep, tricep, leg press, leg extension, leg curl, low back, seated row, chest press, shoulder press, hip abductor (both), abdominal
I might go for a walk in the rain, at some point. The weather's lovely, right now. I'll be talking the dog for a 30-minute walk, too, but the rain will have to stop for that. Fun stuff.
Keep up the great work, Hamsters!
Sky, I'd be disappointed, too. I hope you do really well, when the 5k rolls around.
whoa -- I clicked on a smiley, and my whole message disappeared! Anyway...
rainbowmoon -- I totally feel your pain. I can't run, either. :(
Everyone else -- I'm a vicarious hamster this week, so you all have to do fabulously! So far you're doing great! :)
I have my doctor appointment tomorrow and I'm hoping to find out that I only pulled my tendon rather than having torn it. It hasn't gotten any better and it hurts really badly, so I'm pretty scared. My hamstering has been limited to lots of sit-ups and a few walks that I probably shouldn't have taken, but were necessary for my mental health. I'm having some serious mood swings with the lack of exercise. Hopefully I'll get some knee-friendly exercises from my doctor tomorrow. :)

I ran 4 miles at lunch for training. I ran another 2 miles this evening to release stress.
In another stress reducing exercise I wrote a poem for my English class entitled "Rodents and Runners." Thanks for the inspiration hamsters.
:hi: How's it going?
Veggiemre, do we get to read the poem? Great running!
I'll be thinking of you today, MsKedi, and hoping there's only encouraging news from the Dr.
I ran 3.25 miles this morning. I'll probably only do 2 milers the rest of this week until the 5K on Saturday. I'm getting really nervous and excited too. I wish it was today. Today I could do it.
:vebo: Yea Hamsters!
Love ya's! :smitten:

4 mile run today.
I hope all goes will today Mskedi.
Rainbowmoon, I hope that you will also be on your feet soon.
Veggiemre, budda, and sky great runs! Wow sky, you must be so excited! Only a couple of more days. :D I am sorry to hear about the race number thing and the T-shirt. That is such a bummer.
Flower and ent, great hamstering.
:sunny:
Howdy Hamsters :hi: I'm back!
Had a great time...only a little to much :sunny: and  Ahh' but what the heck :)
I did manage to get in a 4 mile run while I was down there...and lots of swimming. The weather was beautiful but very hot, so I was in the water alot. Not here in WI...it's starting to cool down...the leaves are starting to change...perfect running weather!
I ran 5 miles yesterday. Today I got confirmation for our marathon relay team! Yay...I'm getting excited.
Kristadb, cheers to you for your 10km last week!
Kraftykraft, great walking! Hills are great for strengthening your legs.
Hang in there Rainbowmoon, hang in there. :wall: It's tough but you'll get through it.
Sky, Wow you are getting a lot of running in! Be careful not to over do it...and it's a good idea to take the day before the race off. I really hope they get more t-shirts! It would be nice for you to have a t-shirt for your first run! Bummer about the date on the number. I'm getting excited for you!
Cissy, great ab work. Ya, I guess the cool weather makes it harder to get out of bed in the morning...especially when it's dark all the time in the winter. I think I hate that even more.
Flower, Great workouts! I do love that park...but we probably won't be back to it till next summer...ahh...you never know.
Excellent runs CaptainSwab! Glad you got some shorts that work better for you.
Entresol, awesome as usual! I haven't been doing my sit-ups or push-ups...someone will have to crack the whip and get me moving...hehehe
Mskedi, Good luck with the doctor....I'll be thinking of you.
Budda, thats great time! Way to go!
Veggiemre, Great runs! I hope we get to see that poem!
Time for me to get back in the Hamster swing of things!
Go Hamsters!!! :smitten:

Hey, thanks, CaptainSwab and slynny!
Oh, and slynny? Do your push-ups and sit-ups! :P
Today:
- 40 minutes on the elliptical, using the "fat burn" program
- 10 minutes on the stair climber, using the "fat burn" program
- 10 minutes on the treadmill, running
- 100 crunches, 75 side-reaches, 75 bicycle crunches
- 60 push-ups
- 50 lunges
- 50 squats
- 20-minute walk with the dog
- one set of 12 reps, each, for the following: low back, leg extension, leg curl, seated row, chest press, shoulder press, bicep, tricep, leg press, abdominal, hip abductor (both)
Awesome work, everyone! Keep it up!
Thanks for all the encouragement! You guys rock! And I did get good news -- I only pulled it! :vebo: Granted, I still won't be able to exercise for at least three more weeks (and then only if it doesn't hurt at all), and I have to take anti-inflammatory meds (fun!), but I'll be back with hamstering soon enough!
veggiemre -- do we get to see the poem? :)
Sky -- that's a bummer about the t-shirts and the number, but you're going to have a great time at the race. And then after you've run a few and you've got lots of t-shirts and numbers, you can tell stories about how, um, ghetto (ack! I talk like my students!) your first race was. :D
Rainbowmoon -- hope your feet are starting to feel better.
Slynny -- how far is your part of the marathon relay? It sounds fun!
entresol -- you, as usual, rock.
budda -- so glad to see you posting regularly again!
CaptainSwab -- Ooh.. the 1/2 is coming up soon! I'm so excited for you!!
Flower -- excellent hamstering!
Well, I'm off to eat so I can take this medicine and see if it helps with the pain any. And then I'll do some sit-ups... I'm going to have super-abs by the time this whole knee thing is over with.

Yaaay, Mskedi! I'm so happy to hear that things are going to be a-okay. Take as much hamster-free time as you need, and then get back in here! :)
MsKedi, I'm glad things aren't as bad as they could have been for you! Sorry you still have to wait so long...I know what a drag that is. Hang in there! :D Looks like my part of the relay will only be 5 miles...you never know though, there are only 4 of us and the relay is divided into 5 parts (the person who organized it wants two parts) but if someone would get hurt or sick I'll take on more. :)
