Hello,

I did some research and some people have said that it is vegan. However, I was just at Whole Foods today and saw glycerin on the label for the conditioner - I didn't check the shampoo. And it's not like it specifically said vegetable glycerin...

Then I called Whole Foods later today and the rep. read a label off the lavendar shampoo and it said no animal ingredients. I don't know how I missed that, I just saw that it was not tested on animals, no parabens, etc. BUT I did not see it say "no animal ingredients."

Does anyone know if this brand (I don't think the different scents make a big impact on the ingredients) is vegan or not when it comes to shampoos and conditioners? Isn't glycerin an animal ingredient if it's not labeled as vegetable glycerin?

Or do some products list plain glycerin on the ingredients and then say "no animal products / by-products" which confirms that it is vegetable glycerin? I've seen this on a lot of products that says its vegetarian, sometimes vegan.

Thanks.

if it says no animal products on the label, the glycerine will be vegetable based, and they just didn't bother/think to label it as vegetable glycerine when they did the packaging. cos they don't have to put vegetable next to everything of vegetable origin.

Hmmm.... not sure what to tell you, but it's true... glycerin can be from both sources... however, my experience with whole foods so far has been that they approach such issues rather seriously. I think if it really does say "No Animal Ingredients", I would trust it....

On another note... I actually called Paul Mitchell to ask if their products contain any animal ingredients or by-products and they said absolutely none! No dairy, honey, etc. They are all plant based. That was a surprise for me actually! A nice one. The woman on the phone used those words: "We love our animals and we don't want any parts of them in our products". Then I read on their website that they were one of the first companies to publicly oppose animal testing. :)
