Not exactly for a marathon but I would love to know some tips on running faster and or longer distances. I can run 3/4 a mile without stopping but I would love to run faster and longer distances. Any tips?

I'm training for a 10 mile race in May. I started as a total novice runner about a month ago. I couldn't even run 2 blocks without stopping to walk. I'm up to 3 miles now without stopping. I've been using Hal Higdon's Training schedule and it works pretty well for me.

He's got training programs for all different distances linked on the left side of the page for novice, intermediate and advanced runners. I also throw in some yoga several times during the week which helps with soreness and stiffness of the muscles.

One more vote Thumps Up for Hal Higdon. I ran a marathon on his Novice marathon runner training plan!
