View Full Version : What can I do at the gym with a sprained ankle?

My ankle is sprained, but I still want to get in a cardio workout.
Yesterday I went swimming, but I want to go to the gym!
It isn't a severe strain, I can put weight on it, just not for elongated periods of time.
I was thinking about the stationary bike- do you think that would be okay?

Is it a sprain or a strain? If it's just a mild muscle strain, then yeah, why don't you try the bike and stop if it hurts. If it's a sprain, then I would hold off on that stuff for a while. Another great exercise for injury recovery (since you mentioned having access to a pool) is running in place in water.

You can probably do most, if not all, upper body resistance machine exercises, and some lower body ones too.
