I really want to get back into the shape I was my first two years of high school, when I ran cross country and swam competitively. I've started running again, but I've got a long road ahead of me :) I want to be able to run 4-5 miles every day. I just need to keep myself motivated somehow!

Nice thread....

I don't know if some of mine are achievable, none the less, i pray that i do get there.

- improve my vertical leap by 3 - 4 inches
- gain 2 inches of height.
- Improve my upper body strength to bench press 5 reps of 330 pounds

I haven't worked out since summer, and this year I would like to continue to work out no matter what the weather is like. I'm such a wuss!

I'm running my first 10 mile race in May (actually it's my first race ever, I'm a total novice runner.) So I'd like to stick with the training plan and make it to the end with a decent time.

I also want to increase my flexibility through yoga, especially in back bend poses. As well as introducing headstand and handstand inversions to my practice.

I'd like to be able to run a marathon by November.

I am just looking to be more active overall. I am pretty sedentary in the winter, but I still managed to work out enough and eat well enough to actually lose about 15 pounds. I wore a bikini for the first time yesterday at the hot springs, but I want to tone up and feel stronger.

Actually, my real goal is to be in such great shape that I can dance for about 5 days straight when I go to a music festival this August. I only managed about 4 days of dancing 6 hours a day last year.

My boyfriend just got a wii fit and I'm going to try it next week and get some stats on my fitness level. I'll be able to use it to track my actual results, which is very exciting!
It'll also help that he's decided to get in shape and be healthier too.

My goals are simple: Get in shape.

I've been a smoker since 13, used canabis since 14, and been drinking too much beer since 20. Terrible and I'm in lousy shape. Hoo boy, this is going to be tough, but it has to be done, or I'm going to die by age 50 :(

Great goals everyone, keep up the good work.

I have a few goals they are:
1) Learn the front and middle splits

2) Learn how to do a jump split

3) Swim 10,000 yards In March with my friends at the pool

4) Improve my time for the 200 Fly and 200 Individual Medley :)

Ill think of more later. And keep up the ideas please :/

If not physically fit enough, I'm sure you'll have access to temporary forms of assistance :p

I don't have any specific goals right now, aside from improving strength - especially my upper body like chest and back. I want to be able to do 5unassisted pull-ups in a row haha. And be able to run comfortably at 13kph.

To increase my upper body strength. Yeah, it's not really 'fitness' but meh, it's a goal.

True. It's still a worthy goal to work towards though :p

I have also created a new goal for myself. My BMI right now is 22.39. I want it down to 22. That's a very doable goal for me. It's especially exciting because the last time I had it measured, about 5 years ago, I was over 27.

I'm going to start running in order to improve my cardiovascular health and maybe complete a 5k in the fall.

I'm a little slow on the uptake, sorry.

1. Get my waist measurement to 29".
2. Get REAL exercise at least twice a week on average.
3. Be able to bike for at least 2 days nearly continuously. I'm planning to bike around Shikoku Island (Japan) in August 2010, on a temple pilgrimage. It'll take a little over two weeks probably, and it'll be all day, every day, in the August heat.
4. Be able to do the splits all three ways.
5. Generally get more fit - stronger and a little leaner.

Good luck, everyone :)

Reaching my goal weight. (halfway there!)
I'd like to be able to run a mile in a decent amount of time. Maybe seven minutes.
Get my stradle split down.
And I'd like to consistantly be able to land 4+ piorettes. I can hit three pretty consistantly, I thinks I can do it.(Dancer, can you tell?)

Good lord. I was never good at turns. I could land 2 pirouettes, but I could never consistently get to 3... maybe that's why I wasn't as big on ballet :D Though come to think of it, I had trouble with turns in jazz and tap, too. But I still liked tap best! I was never great at ballet, but that may have partially been due to my teacher telling 13-year-old me I should skip meals because she couldn't see my ribs well enough, and telling me I could never go on pointe because I just wasn't any good, and then putting 9 year olds on pointe who really shouldn't have been...

Sorry, totally off topic. Bitter much?

Thats awful! All the teachers at my studio are so supportive, I'd be shocked out of my pants to hear something like that from one of them. I'd been clinically overweight most of my time at my studio, and I never even got body comments! =[
