I know this is a few months early.... but yesterday Baypuppy and I were cooking bunches of foods for the freezer in my new giant kitchen and we got to talking about having a vegan Easter potluck/meetup/get together. We could make Seitan-Hamz and make vegan easter chocolates and cookies and party down in the new-improved Chez-Rabid_Child (in Latham -- 15 minutes north of the former Chez-Rabid_Child). Another idea we were tossing around was having everyone bring a pre-determined number of plastic Easter eggs with a vegan treat inside to hide, then we could have an Easter egg hunt! (And also encouraging everyone to wear their "Sunday Best" and their "Easter Bonnets" -- and possibly having someone dress up as the Easter bunny so we can have Easter bunny pics. HAHA!)

Easter this year is on April 12th, so we were thinking either the weekend before (April 4/5) or the weekend after (April 18/19).
Our new house is pretty big and we can accomodate overnight guests if people wanted to come from further away.
As always, both vegetarians and vegans and respectful omni friends/significant others/family members are welcome, though all the food would need to be vegan so that everyone could enjoy everything.

Does anyone have any interest? If so, would one weekend be better than the other for you? Saturday v. Sunday?

Not to sound silly but where is Latham? I'm out on the east end of Long Island.

But I would be down for a meet up anyway; if you'll have me. I bet Karenlovessnow would too!

Sorry for my goofy upstate lingo! It's in the Capital Region, which refers to the Albany area (state capital!). It's a suburb of Albany - about 5 miles north. It could be a haul from the East end of Long Island (I'm originally from New Rochelle in Southern Westchester, and that's 2.5 hrs door to door), but like I said, if people want to travel, we can accomodate overnights. We've got a guest room, 2 offices, a living room, and a family room... and a dining room and kitchen if people really got desperate for floor space!

Will do! Are either of those weekends better for you? If people will be travelling, we'll plan it on a Saturday.

I'm down! Either weekend would work for me, and I won't need accommodation since I live in Albany.

I'm already sitting around thinking "Is it April yet??" and not only because it's freezing cold outside and everything is under some sort of permafrost. :|

I actually have 2 other parties to plan for between now and then (or 3 if you count the baby shower I'm helping BP bake for)... I've got my housewarming at the end of the month, and my bf's bday in the middle of march. I might sneak in a casual baby shower for a friend of mine sometime in there too. AHH!

So, I cross post this nonsense across several veg boards, and there are a good handful of people interested so, should be fun!

Okay, it's going to be April 18th in the afternoon. Brunch to follow the morning of April 19th if we end up with any out-of-towners staying the night.

Baypuppy and I have been discussing and there WILL be vegan marshmallow peeps!!

I don't believe I've ever had a vegan peep! Yay for meetups! I'll finally get to put some faces to names (screen-names, anyway!)

And should we plan on bringing anything?

We haven't had vegan peeps either! But we have vegan marshmallow kits.. and we figured that + cookie cutters + sprinkles = VEGAN PEEP!

We can certainly accommodate you, as long as you don't mind cats. We have 3 spare sleeping surfaces (a couch, a futon, and a guest bed), and should we exceed 3 overnight guests (which actually is possible because some folk may be coming from out of state), then there is plenty of room for air mattresses/sleeping bags :)

And yea, we do it potluck style, so plan on a dish to share. BP and I are planning on making some seitan hams. If everyone is open to the idea, we thought we'd have people bring plastic eggs with vegan goodies inside for an egg hunt. Other than that, bring an appetite! We overdo it every time

We've got a facebook invite going for this too if anyone who's interested has facebook accounts, I can shoot you the invite there.

By the by, did you get that office rocker from Pier 1? I bought one from there a couple weeks ago but it's darker wood and the cushion is chocolate brown.

I have no idea where it came from!! My bf had it when I moved in with him -- I think he inherited from someone else. It's actually super gross but the cats LOVE it so I kept it in there for them.

I think I am definately interested in doing this, and so is hubby! Do we have guys coming too? any single chicks, as we have a single friend who was veg*n for 7 yrs, and isn't as strict as he used to be, but he may tag along too.

Great! :) We've always got guys too. My boyfriend is always around stuffing himself (of course we live together, it'd be cruel to exclude him!!), and two of our Albany regulars are young male folk, and several other people bring their spouses/significant others. He definitely won't be the only male! Don't know about single women though... but the guest list is still building! I post at 2 other veg forums and we do "cross board" meetups. (Coordination is a joy for me, really. ;))

How old is she? We do have one really nice single vegan in his mid 20's who loves cats who will be there :D
