Hello to all mah Sooner friends. :hi:

I'm going to be in Oklahoma City at the end of March, for my niece's bat mitzvah. I'll be flying in either Thursday night or Friday. There are family events on Friday and Saturday, so I'll be busy both those days. My brother and SIL are also planning a brunch for Sunday. They couldn't give me the exact times for it, but hopefully it will be done by noon or 1:00 pm.

I can:

go for the whole thing.
go but leave early.
skip the whole thing, especially since I might be too tired to go.

I would very much like to have a meetup with whoever is willing to meet up with ME. Brandon? NoMeatMary? Anyone?

If a dinner meetup, either in Norman or OKC, isn't possible, how about lunch? Late lunch? Early dinner?

So, whaddya all say? :D

Well, I know I didn't make the short list, but as long as my immune system is cooperational, I'm up for a meet-up anytime!

Hm. I'm a maybe on that date. That might end up being the same time I am in Little Rock seeing my dad. He wanted to do a late Christmas thing this year, so it'd be easier on everybody and nobody would have other commitments since there's so many families involved, what with marriages, divorces, etc. in our family.

I'll know better when the time gets closer.

Hey Amy, icreepheather and I are thinking about invading Oklahoma, so maybe we can do it that weekend. Depending on work schedules and such. Wait, as I type this I am wondering if she is even off on Sundays... I'll have to go back to the Slut thread and look to see what days she has off.

Anyway, count us as maybes for now. That is still a ways away...

Amy and Amy,
I can try to take that particular day off or trade if I know in advance. :)

Can we go ahead and decide where and what time of day? I need to finalize travel plans! Thanks!

You let me know what works for you and I'll be there. I have nothing going on that weekend as far as I know. Oh, btw, the 30th is a Monday, not Sunday. :)

I'm in for whatever, whenever, wherever. It's pretty safe to assume that I won't have anything going on :)

oops. Yer right. It's the 29th.

But what I need to know is where should we meet? What time should we meet? I don't know Norman or OKC. Is anybody willing to travel to OKC, or should I travel to Norman? What restaurant would you all recommend for the meetup? You've had meetups with each other before, so you know what restaurants are good. I could really use Brandon's advice, too. :(

Hi Amy. :hi:

As B and I still don't know whether we can come, time would be best left to the others.

As for the restaurant, since you are visiting, it would be ideal to eat something that would be among your taste. What are your favorite kind of foods? If you'd like to throw out some suggestions, I'm sure the gang will be more than happy to direct you to a restaurant you may like. Both Norman and OKC offer many good selections, so depending on what you like, they may be able to steer you towards a restaurant that may not be as far for you to drive. :)

Also please keep in mind that I'll either have to rent a car or use public transportation. Maybe meeting in OKC would be better...

If I'm able to make it, it wouldn't matter if it would be OKC or Norman. It's not like they're great distances away :p

Hmmm, from what I hear from others, public transportation is not so great here. It's mostly buses and to get places, you usually have to take multiple buses...etc. Pretty much a pain. I'm sure that they can come up with something good for you in the city.

True dat!

And I'd already be coming from Dallas anyhow :p

I'll know better a week or two into march though!

1. I corrected the thread title.

2. My sister is buying the plane tickets, so for me, she'll select a return flight for Monday morning, the 30th.

3. This means we can have a dinner meetup, if that's more convenient for everyone.

4. I have a book: Vegetarian Journal's Guide to Natural Food Restaurants in the US and Canada, 4th edition. Please note this edition is already four years old.

5. Only entry for Norman is The Earth Natural Foods & Deli which states Seating is not available, so it's not appropriate for a meetup, assuming the place still exists.

6. There are two entries for OKC: Gopuram Taste of India, and Grateful Bean Cafe. Oops, the second one is closed on weekends, assuming it's still around. Assuming the Indian restaurant is still around, that would be fine with me; I like Indian food, as long as it's not too spicy, and I'm sure they'd be accomodating in that regard.

7. I know it's still very early; is there ANY way possible we can decide on a place and time now, or is that not yet possible?

8. Wherever we do meet up, I have to be able to find the place without winding up a state or two over, since I'm terrible with direction and am likely to get lost. Any directions given to me have to be painfully detailed (for example: turn left at 1st street, go five blocks; when you see the red brick knitting store, that's 5th street; turn right at the knitting store and go six blocks until you see the KFC on one corner and the Baptist church across the street. Stay in the right lane, because you want to make a right at the Baptist church; that's 12th street, and go three more blocks until you see the restaurant at 15th and Elm; the parking is behind the restaurant so make a U-turn to get into the driveway.) etc etc etc

9. I like Chinese food, too. Again, as long as it's not too spicy.

10. So, who is still in?

Well, we'd talked the other night about getting Indian food at Taj in OKC, maybe that could work? Does anyone know if they're open on Sunday nights? (If not, I can try and find out) Those of us from Moore/Norman could carpool! Taj is on a major street, I think (I've never been there) so it'd probably be quite easy to find. What part of OKC are you going to be in, Amy?

Brandon

Taj is off of NW Expressway. Should be noted since Amy is picky that it's a buffet, so you have little control over spicy or not. :)

They don't have a menu, also? (yay for sick kitties and broken ovens - I'm not at work yet!)

Don't think so. I've been there 4-5 times now and never seen or been offered a menu.

Their food is still good! I'm cracking up @ your avatar!

I thought that might get some laughs from a few people. I think it's so ironic that I made that one lucky shot, considering my average score was about 40... :)

What about the Indian restaurant that *I* suggested?

I can't remember the name of the hotel, my brother and SIL switched hotels on us in midstream. I'll get back to you on that.
